Also, to expand on the whole strange dialogue thing, there is maybe a bit too much humor(strange and not always very good humor) in this game. And it doesn't always fit in with the tone of everything else.

Yeah, the setting and atmosphere is really bad, which sucks because that's half the draw of these types of games. I wouldn't mind a sillier version of Dark Souls, I just wish it were actually funny.
I felt like the game wasn't even almost worth the price. Damn dungeon had the same goddamn rooms and hallways for nearly the entire game
Until I realized those large crystal things you put together by hitting the use button actually unlock new room types for the next play through/s. Along with the new room tiles will sometimes be new enemies and items too.
I started getting shit like arm cannons that replace the shield and rooms that are just a collection of floating rocks with bridges and stairs between them.
I don't know how many I can unlock and it doesn't fix all the problems with the game but having them definitely made new playthroughs way more fun

Fallen London is kind of a story prequel to Sunless Sea, whereas Sunless Sea is a roguelite with a heavy emphasis on story. You boat around and collect stories. Okay writing.

It's alright. However the game is a bit too slow in my opinion, so after a while it might start to feel a bit repetetive. It's the kind of game you might want to pirate first, to see if it's worth your attention. And as I said before, it's really not worth the price in it's current state.
