But I just don't have the desire anymore and it's weird because playing vidya is all I want to do but when it comes to starting a game all I can do is stare at my collection until I lose interest

Sounds like you're suffering of the nowadays common "tired gamer" syndrome. It tends to be caused by the mix of playing the modern, mind-numbingly mediocre games, and not doing enough OTHER stuff than game.
For the former, the "cure" is easy:
Play something older! Maybe outside your comfort zone. I recall few years ago another Anon posting a similar tale, however he found his salvation in the form of Silent Hill 1. Which I too can very much recommend, alongside its two following sequels.
For the latter part of the issue, just go out more! Stop posting on /v/, and try to do something creative. Go swimming maybe? That's a sport that does not FEEL like a sport, yet affects your entire body at once.

Sounds to me like you're going through burn out. You've been playing the same type of games for too long and now they don't interest your brain anymore. I don't know how old you are or what type of games you like to play usually but you need to break the formula. I used to almost exclusively play FPS and 3rd person adventure games but I got burn out and now I'm playing all these weird "indy" pixel graphics games. Look at whatever used to interest you and go as far in the other direction. Used to play rouge like games? Try playing Spec-ops, Crysis, New Vegas or similar FPS. Have you been playing hack and slash games for a while now. Try playing a casual puzzle game, like "Escape the room" or similar, something that let's you chill out and maybe listen to some music while playing. Also, the thing that helped me the most, play games that you can start and quit pretty easily. Binding of Isaac, Helldivers, Tis-100, FTL or other games that let you play for short spurts. Also, the biggest of sins, if you loose interest in playing a game but want to see the rest of the game, find a tolerable Let's player and watch from where you stopped to the ending, then fucking delete the game and never think about it again. Having a huge back-log of semi-finished games can be a huge deterrent from playing a new game.
Most of all, just try new things. Never played puzzle games? The Witness is apparently amazing. Never played rogue like? Try Spelunky. Never played a turnbased game? Give X-com or Civ 4 a try. Just try some of these games.
Also, this might fly in the face of what I've been saying, but try to focus on one game. Having 4 games installed at once does you no favours.
ALSO, try out games that /v/ calls "cult classics" While some of them might not be for you, the "Collective" of /v/ is actually pretty good at finding good games

I agree with this guy. For one, getting on /v/ every day will keep you jaded as fuck about vidya. But playing older games that you already know you'll enjoy helps. I'm 23 and can barely bring myself to play new games to completion unless I'm immersed as hell. But playing classics or even some games that you missed from your favorite era could kindle that lost interest. Find some sequels or earlier games from a series or dev you really liked. It seems to me that gaming has been stagnating over the years, just like any other entertainment industry has. There's not much innovation going on anymore, and the tech doesn't shift as immensely as when we jumped from 2D to 3D, for instance. You've just been exposed to so much, it's hard to find a new game that won't feel tried and familiar.
You still like collecting, right?
Or is it more of a compulsion.
If you're like me and you buy tons of video games but can never muster the energy to actually play them I recently discovered that if I can force myself to actually turn the game on and slog through the tutorial it turns out that I do still like video games even though I thought I didn't. I know it sounds crazy op but next time you choose between shitposting here or playing a game just force yourself to play it.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

Once you get older, the responsibilities make you feel like you can't block out time for vidya. Be cognizant of the fact that the time you are wasting on /v/ or whatever other timesink board, site, or social media (god help you) can be pooled to make time for vidya.
You may have responsibilities and errands that stack up, but you are not driven by a motor.
What worked for me was I blocked out 2 hours a day where I wouldn't do anything other than play a game. Pick something up, maybe a game you've beaten before and liked, and play for two hours without interruption. I dusted off my psx and played Monster Rancher 2, and then Dragon Quest 8.
If you want to be engaged, stay away from most FPSs that feel like point and click simulators. Pick a good adventure game or an RPG that can suck you in.Try that a few times a week, and see where it takes you.

here's the recommended emulator settings for SH1. Works great on all other games too.
The plugins used are:
Pete's OpenGL 1.78; has more options & better performance than 2.x versions.
Eternal's SPU Engine.
alternatively just use a software renderer for very 1:1 PS1-like graphics, including 240p only.

You're experiencing mental "burnout". I suggest getting into gaming using something very basic.
For me it was Serious Sam that rekindled my lust for gaming.
Take your favourite genre and play something that is considered good but also simple.

I'd say that your situation brings up a 3rd problem:
you're playing way too "game-y" games for your situation, instead of looking for something immersive and epic.
There's many kind of gamers out there, two quite big categories being these "explorers" and "doers". The latter want to perform tasks and get rewarded for their deeds, thus even the Mega man like games are good enough. However, explorers want to have a world to roam around in, and find enjoyment from discovery and unraveling mysteries.
