As someone who played Rebirth1 and liked it but then played 2 and 3 for a bit and dropped it because the gameplay just wasn't strong enough to play it 3 times, I played the first hour of V-II by button-mashing and that was it.

Finished Zero, working through G right now.Just finished the four solo routes, and got to the battleship.
Lots of nice little changes, but the constant random encounters just to travel around are really annoying. And attacking a hundred monsters to get 10 drops (that's what the rates seem like) will never be anything less than soul-crushingly tedious.
Also, despite Uzumin, Big Nep, and Umio being miracles of the universe, Zero was kind of tepid. It didn't really pick up until G (holy shit, that voice cast).

It's the worst game in the series.
The pacing is terrible, 2/3s of the game feel like one long tutorial that drags on forever, you will feel like you're not accomplishing anything and will not be able to have full access to the game's mechanics or even party members (including the new ones) until the late part of the game, and even then the game will keep restricting you on who you can use by frequently taking members in and out for story reasons.
The map is also even more retarded than the one in the original HDN, stopping you for random battles (that don't even scale with your level) while travelling between any location.
The only thing the game has going for it is that it looks prettier and runs at 60fps, other than that it's worse than the others.
