They have a very very small division helping Niantic with this and are making a large profit, no reason to go full time. Flooding the market with their shit just makes them compete against them self and loses money for them

Companies dont strike oil once and say "well that was worth checking out, but it's not that important". They pursue it as hard as they reasonably can. They dont distinguish between main fans or casual fans, they see what's most profitable. Nintendo especially who is happy to almost completely bench less successful IPs like Metroid and Star Fox is bound to take such a route. If they see the vast majority are responding to their phone game it's not a stretch to believe they'll want to get as invested as possible in tapping it.
