I just fucking hate how they didn't at least start after Rosine was defeated and he said his goodbye to that little girl. The anime's intro would have been perfect if they covered at least Guts walking through the forest dismissing the first appearance of his inner demon while being absolutely covered in blood.
Guts was pretty much about to die before Puck showed up which would have been a good introduction to that character too. And it would have made episode 2's fight actually make sense.

I love this aspect of it. It irritates me in games when STR doesn't up your durability. The stronger you get, the more protective muscle you're building around your squishy parts, and the harder that muscle fiber becomes. You can also strengthen your tendons (much fucking slower and more carefully), which makes them more difficult to tear, and even your cartilage (through tearing it; cartilage is tougher after it heals, but I think it's more brittle).
Dex is more of a "fine touch" spec. I've never thought of it as being speed. It's literally dexterity, how good you are with your hands. In that sense, Guts is a complete Quality build, possessing amazing STR and the DEX of a master swordsman. Not only can he use the Dragonslayer, but he can wield it with the fine touch of a reasonably sized, normal weapon. If Guts didn't have amazing DEX, he wouldn't have the coordination to block super-fast tentacle whipping and shit like he does.

No, it's worth reading because it's fucking great. Forget about fucking Souls, goddamn. I approached it as a long time fan of Robert E. Howard's Conan stories, and it doesn't disappoint. Definitely sword and sorcery fiction in the same vein as Conan. The whole manga is the same kinds of scenes that Frank Frazetta loved to paint for Conan, with a lot of 80's horror design thrown in for good measure.
I didn't expect the reference to Army of Darkness when Guts got his cannon arm.

I don't think anyone would argue that cutting some exposition like Griffith and Guts frolicking naked, the bonfire of dreams, the talk before Guts' sudden departure from the Hawks, andWyaldmade the movies better off. Not to mention Guts' backstory.
It makes sense how they cut it since they were only paid for 3 movies but the trilogy would have been infinitely better as a series of 4.

I kind of, sort of, just maybe sympathized with Griffith at the moment of the Eclipse. Not when he was asshurt that Guts beat him and left, not when he went full retard and dicked down the princess. But after his year of torture, everything they did to him, having his tendons clipped, tongue removed, probably never going to be able to even lift a fucking spoon to your mouth again, and having to remember it all...I sort of got why he'd go through with sacrificing the whole Band of the Hawk if for no other reason than to get his body back. Although, really, and I say this with no edge intended, he should have just killed himself rather than fucking over the hawks.

Yeah but he isn't the only one. Every major fighter in this manga has inhuman endurance, agility and strength. And realism isn't important in this story anyway.
Guts would probably have a ton of debilitating injuries by now (severed tendons, broken bones etc) but it doesn't matter because it's Berserk.
