Pokemon Go
Emerald, HG/SS, and Platinum. FR/LG are better versions of Gen 1, too.
Black/White is probably best if you've only played gen 1. It might be best anyway. FR/LG, emerald, plat, and HG/SS are all worth playing. Order does not matter. FR/LG is a remake of gen 1, HG/SS is a sort of sequel, others are unrelated. XY is fine, all pokemon games are pretty good for similar reasons, don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Personal favorite is Heart Gold
HeartGold/SoulSilver. You can get the 2nd gen taste but with updated mechanics that work much better.

People collect those versions. They have a very high demand and are not made new anymore I think. Pokemon games always sell really well if you have the actual cartridges.
