After how shit the open world aspect of DA:I turned out to be I don't have much hope for Andromeda's planets to be that interesting to explore. They'll be a bunch of random collectables for you to find, but nothing of substance. Main story will probably also be some sort of ancient evil awakens plot as well.

I fucking loved the entire trilogy. The one major problem was the ending and they released free dlc that went a long way towards fixing that. All of the other dlc was incredible for each of the games. I sank over 700 hours into me3 mp.
I will buy andromeda with a smile on my face. If they confirm mp and it's more or less the same as me3, it's a definite preorder for me.

They started off with a male because most people play male and they knew that so thats how they advertised it. That doesnt mean he was a canon character. You may have noticed a lot of the ME3 advertisments had a female Shepard and the first trailer for ME4 had a Fem Shep. So you guys are already wrong.
Canon would involve Bioware coming out and saying "Shepard IS MALE period, end of story, anyone playing a Female character is not playing the real Shepard" and sense Bioware isnt that retarded, Shepard's character will never receive a canon gender.
