How the digital pet craze never made a resurgence on phones.
The big thing holding it back in the early 90s was technological limitations, and the fact that you had to remember to lug this thing around with you wherever you went.
Phones alleviate both those problems, PLUS add a shit ton of potential features (imagine if your pet used your GPS and evolved into different forms based on where you went in the world) and on top of all that, the play patern is RIPE for potential F2P monitization.

Tamagotchi has had DLC through phones for years in Japan, though, and the last few had TTL-type shit with plugin expansions for the P's and NFC cards for the 4U. They probably make more money releasing a new one for the price of a handheld game every year or two.

Proto Man was strong as shit. If memory serves he had above average HP and his attack dealt 60 damage AND hit one of the opponent's chips.
I get the feeling like Turbo Man can be a real cunt with the right setup too though, since his attack, while weak for damage purposes, went past guards and hit all of the opponent's chips so you could potentially leave your opponent without any chips at all.
