Nintendo is just about the only company that has actually justified the need for an 8th generation console to me. The Wii U innovates a ton more and does more with its hardware than either the PS4 or the Xbox One. This is what diminishing returns does to you.
I'm pretty happy with my PS4 and vita. I still haven't gotten all the games I wanted because I'm waiting for sales on them, have a healthy backlog and the future looks bright.

The PS4 only has one objectively good game, all the other games that came out were some degree of shit, mediocre, or remastered ports from the previous generation, and empty promises. The only reason it's selling so well is because the competition shat themselves.
The Xbone has no worthwhile exclusives. The only good exclusives that it had all got ported to Windows 10 and it will stay like that for the forseeable future.
The Wii U had some pretty good games, more quantity and quality than the competition, but it sold like shit because of nintendo's retarded marketing plan for the console and they tried riding the coattails of the Wii like idiots
The Vita was a failure, there isn't anything else to say about it.
The 3DS sells pretty well but nintendo's censoring policy for western localization is pissing me off (Wii U as well).

What is there left to innovate in console games? Gen 3 rebuilt from the crash, gen 5 moved to 3D, gen 6 made online gaming mainstream, gen 7 moved to Blu-Ray so we didn't need to worry about storage limits as much. Gen 8 has nothing. VR isn't ready for mainstream consoles yet, touchscreen gameplay is the domain of mobile, and the explosion of creativity of the indy market (and all the flaws that come with it too of course) are primarily on PC and mobile due to consoles being relatively strict. The biggest innovations this gen, and next gen as well, are just going to leave dedicated consoles as an antiquated form of gaming.

Looking at the other competition only makes it looks worse. The Wii U was a fucking failure and the Xbone has no games.

The last time I turned on my Xbox 360 was to play Red Dead Redemption, 6 years ago. I haven't had any interest in a console exclusive game in 6 entire years.
