>ESL One Cologne 2016 only peaked at 850k viewers
>the previous major, MLG Columbus, peaked at over 1.6 million viewers
Does this mean that esports shit is dying? Can Valve just move on to making actual games already?
>>
>>344574226
The most interested I have ever been for a Esport is Rocket League finals that played earlier today.

Shit was hype.

csgo esports was always about people idling in stream for drops, gambling, and matchfixing
>>
bad casting

no major upsets

Skin economy is a shitshow, waning interest in idling for cases

Overwatch
>>
>>344574512
None of that.

Tons of major players on all the biggest name teams revealed to be cheaters in last year

thats all it is.
>>
>>344574226
Man this game is full of corruption and shit

first it was the rampant cheaters, then it was cheaters again, and now its the huge gambling problem
>>
>>344574226
A shit viewer that only watched one guy and bad timing for the US (Started while your average person was working)
>>
>>344574612
I love how many competitive CSGO and TF2 players blatantly aimbot in tournaments. Nobody gives a shit, it's like watching a video from some third world country where a disaster happens and everybody just keeps walking since it's the norm for them.
>>
>>344574226
you now need sms verification to use the steam market and you manually have to ok every single listing in an app on your smartphone
as a result many people don't use the market anymore
and therefore less people idle for skins since they're worthless for them now
>>
>>344574612

anon i don't watch cs go and to anyone who has just barely marginal interest like me, "more than one in a short period" is the same as 5,000

it's shown everyone that cs go pro organizations and tournaments cannot be trusted, because how could an organization POSSIBLY not know their own player was cheating?
>>
truth is nobody gives a fuck about the abortion that is CSGO or the duders who fucking play it (((professionally)))
>>
>>344575794
Autists on /v/ do. I regularly see people with 1k+ hours in it. They're usually 14 year olds with mop tops though.
>>
>>344575779
As someone who does watch it, there has only been one player of the big name teams convicted of cheating in my time watching it. KQLY from Titan
>>
>>344576007
>convicted
nobody cares if they're "convicted" of cheating or not anon, you can tell when they're cheating.
>>
>>344575794
This. The only reason the e-sports scene launched so well with GO was because you could get a weapon case worth $50 just for "watching", and by watching I mean opening the steam and then going AFK. Alternatively, people were using betting sites to make money off skins, but the phone shit alienated a large portion of the gambling audience.

AUTISM

Why do you fuckers feel the constant need to attack people who don't have the same taste as you. If anything THAT is autistic.

>You don't watch it so how could you tell?

probably because i've been playing fps since 1993, watched the first aimbot come out for quake, and played cs since beta 5. of the mod.

aimbotting etc is blindingly obvious, and someone doesn't need to have my experience to instantly recognize it, though i can say with a surety that they can't.

I probably have thousands more hours in scores of FPS games than you. Yes, I can tell.

>>344576897
That's not what contrarian means, dummy. If I picked my opinion because the majority consensus was the opposite then I'd be contrarian. But it's my opinion; independent from yours.

CS GO was a bubble
CS has always been popular but the esports boom only happened because of hats
>>
>>344576169
No. CSGO is quite literally the worst fps ever made.
>>
>>344577149
>I can tell

okay

You must have not ever been very good then. I'm not that good and I make plays that look like your "obvious aimbot" all the time. I've only seen 5 to 10 sketchy pro moments at most.
>>
>>344577318
>the esports boom only happened because of hats

err the esports boom happened because of mobas. pro dota is about 30,000 times more important than pro cs
>>

>Does this mean that esports shit is dying?
We can hope so.
>>
>>344574512
>no major upsets

definitely wrong there, most people expected liquid to get eliminated in groups but they made it to the finals, the real reason is a combination of blatant cheaters winning everything and a stagnant single elimination format

>>
>>344577496
I'd actually rather play them. At least they're not trying to pass off as being good. Playing CSGO makes you look stupid.

It dropped because of trade holds on all Valve market items. I guarantee that the numbers were inflated by Russian bots watching the streams trying to get drops.

Lol wut

Everyone in the scene knows "those moments", but that anon was saying that pros blatantly aimbot. Which in my mind means they press their aimkey for 2/3rds of their kills. Which is just ridiculously stupid.
>>
>>344577370
>I'm not that good and I make plays that look like your "obvious aimbot" all the time

no, you don't. you're also confused if you think aimbotters are usually revealed by kills/shooting and engagements.

>>344578015
Nigger I know what most people talk about when they think pros cheating. Pressing an aimkey to "feel" the enemies through walls. But that anons wording doesn't imply that at all. This IS /v/ though so maybe I should always adjust for intense hyperbole.

The 1st package to dream for becomes much cheaper due to cobble became one of the most played map and number of viewers has increased significantly in 2015/2016 compares to 2014.

There was a scandal last year about a cheat system that worked through Valve's steam workshop that subtly increased the users accuracy.
The only reason it was ever discovered was because one of the hackers in on it got banned for separate reasons and ratted everyone out.

There's millions of money to be won and video games are easy to cheat in
>>
>>344574612

then why the last major, which was this year, still had over 1 million viewers?

speaking out of your ass there
