The ancients harnessed it to travel between space, dimensions and time by making their own portals in and out of AD at desired locations/times. Its wormhole shortcuts in a sense, Star Dream refers to it as "Extra-dimensional road"
So far we know of the Lor using it to travel between Pop Star and Halcandra's dimension, as well as Star Dream (and quite likely NOVA in retrospect) having used it to not only transport Galacta Knight across space (and likely dimensions) but also across time. There's also Magolor, who obtained the Master Crown's "unlimited power" and was able to make AD portals at will.
Their clever use of AD is quite likely the ancients greatest power and what allowed them to spread so many artifacts across multiple planets and dimensions, and we've seen both mechanical means (Lor/nova) as well as more magical (Crown) means from them.
After Magolor is defeated he is said to have been stuck in AD but somehow made it out, its unknown how he managed it, the Lor is said to be sentient so it might've went back to pick him up. Susie's incident is basically confirmed to have been form extra-dimensional travel, but its unknown how long she spent inside AD, either just the trip to somewhere else or she had to find a way out.
THEORY TIME, as of Rainbow Curse, the story they're sticking with regarding Kirby's origins is >Our pink adventurer blew into Dream Land one day on a spring breeze
Which seems to imply he just materialized right before the events of Dream Land/Spring Breeze. Perhaps Kirby is from a different time or even dimension, and was sent away to Dream Land for reasons unknown, popping out of AD and leaving no trace as to his origins.

Old Kirby lore implied Kirby was a young, yet fully grown pink puffball from Pop Star, who lived outside King Dedede's domain. Not some magical entity, not some being of legend, not even totally unique, just a nice guy who was renowned for helping people out. He presumanly lived among others of his own kind, all pink as well if Super Star's stands are any indication. His cozy, solitaty dome house was built by the other Dream Landers as thanks for returning everyone's stolen food. He probably discovered the ability to copy people's powers after the shining stars caused him to swell with magical power.

There's assumptions made but they're not off base, if we accept the API is a callback to Pix then its also easy to accept this description is referring to Pix and Rock Star. How much they actually did there and when? we can't know, that would definitely be speculations and headcanons
You might say it doesn't have to be Pix or Rock Star specifically, perhaps they found a similar blueprint elsewhere. That is making more assumptions though, as its connecting it to things that are in no way established, as supposed to connecting it to an established location. Occam's razor and what not, they also wouldn't give this kind of description if it wasn't connected to already established lore.
