Well there's no where for them to go thematically after 4. And thank god. I liked 4 more than 3, but it was more crackdown than GTA. Maybe we'll get like a reboot of sorts and start from the bottom again.

Anyone that still thinks saints row 2 was that good has the nostalgia goggles welded on. The story was great, the best in the series, but these aren't games about stories. The missions were fucking shit, half of them on rails, other half just fighting waves of guys, the gunplay was shit, the sword fighting was dire, the driving was shit and it was all just really boring.

I would love to see the Gat out of Hell ending in which they rewrite history and become bad ass cops made canon. It would allow a return to the street level action and separate plots for different gangs, while still remaining wacky and crazy and bringing a lot of new stuff to the series. I would so play this. But unfortunately most people, volition included, seems to prefer lol so randum destruction.

Man I completed all the gta games few times, including the two first ones. SR1 was made at the same time as San Andreas and from what I read volition actually really wanted the game to have a distinct feel about it, so it wouldn't be considered a gta clone. First thing is it was much more focused on side objectives and free roam than any gta. Also here you were actually a member of a street gang, while in all gta games to this point you were rather a lone wolf or a mercenary and was working for mafias and cartels most of the time. Obviously gang banger themes were included in SA but by the time first info about SA seen daylight volition already had the whole concept of their game ready. They actually pretty much panicked when they saw that "they're doing exactly what were' doing!" and tried changing some stuff to not be called a ripoff.
