Apparently, the character design lead for Twilight Princess was the person who designed Kaepora Gaebora from Ocarina of Time and the monkeys and turtle from Majora's Mask. She seems to specialize in characters with a bizarre bent to them, especially chubby creatures. She designed the Piantas from Super Mario Sunshine and a number of Pikmin creatures, too.

I give Zelda games a pass, because they have a spectrum of attractiveness for their cast.
I like that their characters faces actually have character to them.
Man, TP really had a fucking garbage artstyle.
It tried to look both realistic and stylized in the worst way possible. Garbage textures that try way too hard to look realistic, yet most character models look like cartoons.
The Twilight realm style was neat I guess.

The Ooccoo were just weird until Skyward Sword pointed out that Hylians lived in Skyloft riding birds in the beginning of the timeline. By the time you get to TP's timeline hundreds of generations later, the Ooccoo, a human/bird hybrid, live where? The City in the motherfucking sky.
