why the fuck even release old ass games separately like that? they came out a decade ago. I could understand maybe releasing question and answer arcs in two bundles but the way theyre doing it now is ass water
>>
>>344520568
Higurashi needs a new translation because the old one is pretty garbage so it takes time. Shit is long.

Umineko has a translation by WitchHunt which is R07 approved so they could release that faster. And Umineko was always split in two 4-chapter packs.
>>
>>344520643
so why not just wait to translate the two arcs and bundle them. Other vn translations take long as well, but they dont split them up into parts.

How do you feel about Moogy-denka's sentiments about Umineko?

https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/comments/4pov9s/list_23_vns_you_have_decided_against_reading_and/d4ndixi

>Hi, I read the entirety of Umineko as it came out and I feel like I'm being generous when I give it a 4/10. It's a convoluted mess that reads like it was written by a 12 year old. The Japanese fanbase refuses to so much as give Ryuukishi the time of the day nowadays for good reason.

...

>I don't know how the western fanbase continues to put up with Ryuukishi, and I honestly feel that it's damaging to the community as a whole to continue to obsess this much over a single work so long after the fact. The amount of Umineko discussion is one of the reasons people who read untranslated eroge feel so disconnected from the broader western fanbase, and it's not hard to see how stifling this level of obsession can be if you take a step back. This applies to other games as well (Fate and Majikoi, for example) and I suppose to a degree it comes part and parcel with the reality that you guys are exposed to such a tiny slice of what's out there, but when the game in question is something as obviously and majorly flawed as Umineko, I can't help but feel a sense of unease, I guess you could say.

...

>Honestly, I shouldn't have even posted in here. The way I approach the medium as a whole and what I look for out of eroge/VNs are simply too far removed from the western fanbase's to have any sort of meaningful discourse with people using translations, and I accept that. But at the same time, as someone who helped build the community as it is today, I guess I'm unable to fully suppress my irritation at the way it hasn't developed into the ideal I imagined for it over the years.

Empty argument and statement.

This is not a fault of the work, and is an empty argument. Over the years that I've argued and debated the meaning of Umineko, I've come to my own conclusions, closed the story in a satisfying way and moved on. I always feel that Umineko had a lot to say about life and I am better by reading it. To me, that's all that matters.

So you could best summarize this word soup as "Stop liking what I don't like" and "Why aren't westerners just like us?" That's a lot of fucking letters to say precious little. Are all japs so well versed in demagoguery?

Keichi kills the uncle and meets with Takano, his friends cover for him and claim that he went to the festival, Satoko hallucinates his uncle being alive due to her disease, The Sonozakis find the corpse and help Keichi out hiding it
After mentally unestable Satoko pushes Keichi the Mountain Hounds send everyone to the concentration camps and since they don't find Keichi he survives
He later dies in the hospital

Had an idea once for an Umineko/Ace Attorney thing.

It would take place sometime between games and the basic plot was that Beatrice and Battler's struggle had inspired more people to deny being killed by magic. So to quickly take care of their arguments, Witch Trials were set up with the "defendant" being the victims (who can't remember the exact moments of their deaths for fairness). Seeing it as something amusing, Bern drags Battler out of his game to help give the clueless victims a fighting chance.

Battler as the "defense" and Beatrice was the "prosecutor", with Lamdadelta as the Judge and Virgilia filling in the "detective" role (I wanted to save Erika as a potential sequel prosecutor). Not sure who Battler's assistant would've been, but I was leaning towards Jessica. You had to use both physical evidence and red truths to contradict testimonies and figure out a real, non-magical killer.

The second case (the only one I thought up any details for) had a bully of Ange murdered via limbs being torn off and the magical explanation was that Ange commanded the Seven Stakes to kill her, so Battler tried to not only prove how magic wasn't used, but also have Ange be completely innocent of what happened.
>>
>>344533759
What evidence is there that he is still alive?
>>
>>344534047
Only if the cause of the murder is absolutely fuckretarded.

Like small bombs.
>>
>>344534047
also the prosecutor or defendant could use blue and purple truths
>>
>>344532710
>they never tell you what the real truth is

It does reveal the truth. We know exactly what happened in every episode and we know what truly happened, no magic bullshit involved. It's been a while but I clearly remember it was all there.

Yasu made a "game" to pass on the inheritance to someone else and maybe get Battler to remember his promise. She was engaged to George but she/he was panicking due to whatever the fuck was going on with his/her genitals and then Battler came back and she/he was all like "ah fuck it, I'll let fate decide this one fucking Kinzo style" (which involved possibly blowing up the whole island). The grown-ups figures the epitaph and received the inheritance but Rudolf and Kyrie got greedy and murdered everyone. Battler and Yasu escaped by boat and Yasu drowned herself/himself at sea out of guilt. Battler tried to save him/her and washed up on the shore amnesiac. He was found by Ikuko (Featherine) and together they write the episodes from what vague recollections Battler has.

The only good thing that came out of Umineko was the music.
>>
>>344532415

Best music. Entire box of tissues tier ending. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFyzTtKNzYI

Everyone is still dead in the end. Battler survived but has amnesia, he wrote the stories from the third on as a means of coping with the emerging memories, and later as a means of helping Ange deal with her own issues and let her move on with her life. Beatrice survived the events on the island but killed herself afterwards.

>>344532710
>they never tell you what the real truth is

I believe the manga spells it out, but unless you have the IQ of a fruit fly you should be able to figure it out.

Episode 7's tea party gets the first part of it right. The adults solved the epitaph and found the gold. Violence ensued.

Battler was assisting his parents to carry out the murders, but when he met Beatrice, who Kyrie probably sent him to kill, he realized who she was and why everything had played out this way, and he fled from the carnage with her before shit went nuclear. Eva survived as well, of course, and spent the rest of her life taking all the suspicion so Ange would never suspect that her parents and brother were the real culprits.
>>
>>344534494
Let me fix some stuff.

> Yasu made a "game" to pass on the inheritance to someone else and get Battler to remember his promise. He/she was engaged with/dating George (Shannon) AND Jessica (Kanon) but she/he was panicking because both relationships were escalating and he didn't have a dick or a vagina to consummate the relationships, and he/she himself/herself wants to love someone, but feels like it's impossible for her/him. Then Battler came back and she/he was all like "ah fuck it, I'll let fate decide this one fucking Kinzo style" (which involved possibly blowing up the whole island). The grown-ups figures the epitaph and received the inheritance but Rudolf and Kyrie got greedy and murdered everyone, and they themselves died horribly because Yasu forgot to turn off the bomb. Battler and Yasu escaped by boat and Yasu downs herself/himself at sea by accident from the shockwave from the explosion. Battler tried to save her, and wound up with brain damage himself, severe enough to give him amnesia for his entire stay on the island. He was found by Ikuko (Featherine) and together they write the episodes from what vague recollections Battler has.

Get the fuck out ofnthis thread immediately

Despite dropping Umineko, it's the one thing I wouldn't want to get spoiled for anyone, it's a wild ride.
>>
>>344534494
>>344534912
None of that is told in ep 8 you idiot.
>>
>>344534852
Go away anon, Umineko looks like complete garbage at first glance but it's actually one hell of a ride, one of my favourite stories ever. The very core of the story has been spoiled in this thread already, just go away don't ruin it for yourself
>>
>>344534995
It absolutely is. I read nothing except episodes 1 to 8 so I can't possibly have picked it up anywhere else. Just because it's not summed for you "Ok, Here is what happened:" word for word doesn't mean it's not there.

You probably didn't solve a single episode, even with Willard giving you the answers you goat.
>>
>>344534904
Was Battler really an accomplice ?

>>
>>344535469
Episode 8 confirms and expands on it. I was mostly just pointing out that "they never tell you what the real truth is" is a lie.
>>

There is no better feeling than actually trying to solve the closed room mysteries and realizing the truth as the story progresses. Truth being you're just being trolled.

Say what you will but past all the animu characters and whatnot, Umineko is an incredibly beautiful story.

I've many times thought about compiling it into 8 simplified short stories, taking out all the fluff and making it a "mystery saga" where the goal is presenting the core of the story and allowing the reader to solve the murders in each book/episode and on the last one solve the story as a whole. But I'm too lazy to actually do it of course.

Alchemist holds the rights to those, and like with graphics, they demanded tons of money for MangaGamer to be able to use them. It was cheaper to get entirely new art for Higurashi, and art from Pachinko game for Umineko.
And now they've gone bankrupt, so who knows who has the rights to everything they did.

IIRC there is exactly one choice in the entire series. (Besides those mini games/quizzes in the last game.)

It determines, if you get the "good" ending or the "bad" ending in the final game.
That said, even the "good ending" is bad (as far as craftsmanship is concerned).
