So im playing this game pretty actively, and there's 2 gyms nearby
At first they were both controlled by shit mons low level, like 60 or something when i started
so I leveled up a bit to get ready to take them and one i hit about 80 i checked again and then they were at like 120
continued to catch till i had some 200s, and the gyms had 350s
I now have some 400ish pokemon and all the gyms are controlled by 700-800
I give up, this is a shitty grind shitfest with no actual combat or training. Like what the fuck do I even do with my starter? hes still level fucking 12 because I've never seen another charmander anywhere so i cant get candy for him. who the fuck thought that was a good idea to not be able to train your favorites, and only upgrades ones that you find all over the fucking place.
Also i just got done fucking running 10km without catching anything because i was chasing down a abra/growlith that never got closer than 3 paws no matter where i ran.

It's motivated me to get some exercise. The social aspect is easily my favorite part of the game. I walked around for 2 hours with a friend and we stopped and talked to at least 3 different groups of people playing. Walked about 2 miles, can't remember the last time I actually got out and walked that much.

Level up. As your trainer level increases the pokemon you run into have higher CP. That and using stardust to make them stronger.
Its best to save up your stardust till your a higher level though. Pokemon have a CP cap and lower level pokemon will easily be outclassed by mons you got at lower levels. Max level is 50 also so I'm probably going to save most of mine until 40+.

On top of this GPS spoofing isn't a instawin, if you "teleport" they instantly ban you, if you move too fast as well, they can detect it (and you will just move in and out of pokemon locations anyway)
So I have to set a path for the GPS spoofer to take, then move about 5-10km an hour along it, slow as shit and yet, because you can't stop you often still miss pokemon.

Pretty much, if you get an exp boost make sure to use it in conjunction with an incense. Also evolving pokemon gives 500xp so you can get pretty good XP on cheap evolutions.

You can use a team of 6 pokemon when fighting a gym owned by another team.
You can only use 1 pokemon when training at a gym your team already owns. It's harder to join gyms already occupied by your team than it is to take down enemy gyms.

With the whole CP cap bar above the pokemon status screen, does the cap amount change with different pokemon caught? Or are say all Rattata capped at the same CP? Is it worth powering up a pokemon before you evolve it to get a higher CP cap, if that's a thing? Or do evolved pokemon all have the same cap as well?

It makes no difference when you evolve the CP bar will not move but their CP will increase to whatever it would have been at that point for the evolved pokemon.
