Its just faster. If I'm hyped enough to want to play a game at release, I'd rather just download it rather than wait in some gay lineup at midnight or whatever. Plus I don't trade in or sell games anyways so I don't give a fuck about a hard copy

I get gift cards to a local chain store often so for me it's a mix of buying in person, piracy, and Steam/GOG for multiplayer games or anything else I couldn't find.

Different person here. I ordered OoT 3Dfor downgrading purposes,the game came in a weird folded cardboard envelope thing. It's the first and only time I've seen anything similar. The game was intact but I found it weird that they used such a simplistic wrapping method.and ended up having fun playing it
Back on topic, I honestly get it from wherever it's cheaper, usually digital. I don't really buy games on release day though.

I walk or bus to places, so unless it's groceries it's usually bought online.
Online is usually cheaper anyway even when you factor in shipping cost, if it even comes with one, and stores often don't have specifically what I'm looking for.
Mind you I'm not talking about video games but things in general, though it's definitely true with games too.

It's the wrapping method they use for books. It is very strange that they used it for a 3DS game. I think it happened to me once, ever. Those brown wrapped things are for books though they are actually very secure.

I've worked in a warehouse for 3 years now, we always use those cardboard envelopes for small shit. Small packages like that are so densely packed that they can't move enough to cause shock damage to whatever is in them.
I don't play localized games, so all my physical purchases are online by necessity.
How about AC Collection including AC6. One can dream.
