I looked up the game and it seems pretty neat
But those bosses being like 10m~ long is a major turnoff.

I fucking hate The Star boss. It made me drop the game at least for a couple of days. Hey, let's remove the camera and abilities you are used to and replace it with an awkward projectile shooting form in an arena when you don't see shit in some phases and where the camera angle is garbage.

Actually after mastering The Star on furi he doesn't seem that difficult even on furier. Granted I only did a test run and didn't make it to the final phase, but I was surprised after bosses like The Chain and The Strap gave me trouble.

Bear in mind that the hair simulation seems to operate on a separate tick rate than the rest of the game(i.e. <15 fps)

Danger definitely had the best tracks. I never heard of the guy before, but The Chain and The Star's songs are easily my favourite.
In terms of boss, I'd have to say that The Burst was my favourite. I like them all actually, I think they all have their neat little things. If I had to pick one I liked the least, it'd have to be The Line just because of his fight on Furier

Dude that old man took me so many tries, but trust me when I say it's worth it even if it takes you fifteen times like it did for me. It is definitely the casual filter. Also, if you want, look up a playthrough of that boss, there are a lot of techniques you can use. Charging sword and dash at the same time is very useful, a charged sword hit on a vunerable boss means you automatically do that cutscene attack that chunks them quite a bit. Also, sometimes it's easier to simply dodge away than to parry.

Part two. I have a dash pattern for the first laser grid if you're interested in that as well, but my initial strategy was to take out both hands at the same time because the second laser pattern is a nightmare. Afterwards I figured out you can take out the hands without ever really having to deal with the lasers much if you're good enough at the initial bullet waves.
Favorite song is You're Mine. This game single handedly got me to buy Brut's Trilogy album. Best album I've bought in a long time.

You can squeeze tier-1 charges into the initial waves of phase 4. Also to make it manageable during the ground wave phase I take out one of the orb shooting drones. I think there's a weird trick where if you hit them too many times they pop back up, so I start with a laser wave and then use individual bullets until it's down and immediately stop after that.

From what I remember of my test, the only major differences between furi and furier Star are that some of the regular bullets become solid/reflective, there's a handful more bullets in the 3rd and 4th phases, and the laser grids in the 3rd phase are worse, but again those are mostly avoidable. I dunno about the final phase, though.

just so you know, you can dodge with L1 or L2 and keep your thumb on the right stick to fire.
Just so you guys know, you can parry while doing any action, even charging your slash, and the charge is maintained. So you if you see a 4 hit string coming, you can start charging right before the first attack and by the end of it you can punish with already charged slash.
You need to claw grip for this if you're using the default control scheme, though.

The Star by a landslide
If this entire game had the gameplay style at The Star it would be an easy 10/10.

That boss is an adrenaline rush, I fucking love it. Still can't beat him furier mode due to the final part. The game makes for a fun shmup.
As for the regular sword mode, it could use some work. It's easy to cheese bosses with charged attacks and the patterns aren't very difficult. Still an awesome game overall.
Best track was at that one sniper chick. Listened to that over and over before release and fighting to it is even better.

The melee sections could use some work but if it was a pure shmup it would've turned me off completely. I like that this game tries something different even if it doesn't pull it off completely. In that vein The Star was actually a disappointment for me because I expect the final boss to be a culmination of everything thus far, not a sudden nigh-genre change.

Just don't worry about ranks and finish the story on Furi, then you unlock all the bosses in practice mode on Furier which is where the real fun is.
What is it about this game that makes me love it?
Dark Souls was hard as fuck so it took forever to beat but I never went back to it after beating it. I beat this game but now I WANT to beat it on furier mode.
It's like Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix trying to run the game on Critical Mode at Level 1. I finay did it but it was fun to do, which is why I kept attempting it.
