I own an Xbone, a PS3 and a 360.
The 360 is incredibly loud, hot, big+giant power brick. The Disc Tray doesn't open, you need to bang on the console to get it to open.
The harddrive is tiny(20gb).

According to rumors, Sony has a working PS3 virtual machine emulator that is being readied for the neo. It is intended to function of PS4 as well. The VM is in a working state but nothing near playable.
The problem is timing. Two jaguar cores handle the duty of the PPE while the SPEs are offloading to both the other cores as well as the GPU's compute units depending on whether the executable code is sequential/serial. Getting the timing right is tricky. The game's executable is both recompiled like the Xbone solution and dynamically recompiled depending on the type of code being executed.
The other issue is the video wrapper has to convert Nvidia to AMD. This works quite well with very few artifacts though. The emulator in general again is in a working state but the timing is causing the problems.

I think Sony fucked up big time by making Playstation Now their backwards compatibility. Why the fuck should I have to pay monthly to stream games I already own and get kicked out of the service every 10 min because I have backwoods internet. Honestly, I've gotten a lot more time out of my Xbone than my PS4. At launch Xbone had better games like DR3 and KI, and even though all of them are on PC now at the time it was better than anything Sony had. Now that Xbone has BC I still get more play time out of it than my PS4 since most current gen games worth playing are on PC.
All I ask is for the last gen Dead Risings, The Darkness, Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw, and the games by Mistwalker come to Xbone and they will have won my heart. Especially if they have improved frame rates like RDR has.

They could make every game technically comparable but at what level of performance? What they're doing is entirely software based so each game requires tweaking to get playable. Previous backward comparability was mostly hardware based, where the emulated games would pull on different built in system resources that were similar to the original hardware. The original PS3 had a PS2 processor in it, which PS2 games used for backwards compatibility.
