What are games that encourage the claw?
In Dark Souls you need to claw if you want to sprint anywhere and see where you're going.
Really thought the claw grip really reveals a gigantic flaw in the ergonomics and functionality of game controllers, and I hope someday theres a better design than either doing the claw to free look, or using a KBM
I pretty much always use the claw unless it's a
>console shooter
It's not really encouraged, but I used the claw through Xenoblade Chronicles because it was more comfortable.

Monhun

already a solved problem by adding removable triggers on the back of the controller like the xbox one elite controller.

Crackdown one made me develop the claw naturally, I'd never heard of it before.
The machinegun on the vehicles turret was bound to B.
Peace Walker, Portable Ops, any PSP FPS.
>>344417807
what is the benefit of holding the controller this way? wouldnt you accidentally press all 3 buttons?
>>344419575
The buttons don't have that much give for you to press just by resting on it. Even if it did, you'd adjust.
>>344419575
It allows you to press the face buttons while still keeping your thumb on the right thumbstick

I hate the idea of the claw grip. The paddles are far more elegant a solution to this problem.
>>344420439
Yeah but paddles are a relatively new invention. They existed in the 360 era yeah but only on custom controllers that costed x2 the amount of a normal one OR MORE.
Only recently have paddles been added to official hardware with the Boner Elite control.
Hopefully more devs follow but I don't really care because I've used a pad maybe 4 or 5 different times for PC games.
>>344420439
The paddles also 4 times the price

Sorry anon, no one here is old enough to remember that game.
ya'll niggas don't know shit about the claw
I found that the best way to play Armored Core on PSP was to claw.

>tfw playing ff type-0 on psp
also dark souls, especially fighting kalameet. wasnt rly a problem in the rest of the game
Overwatch when I'm playing Lucio and wallriding everywhere. I can map jump to something else but eh.

If you were trying to play SMW on the Wii vitrual console, not the Wii U but the original Wii, with a gamecube controller, you'd have to claw just to sprint and jump. Shit sucked man.
>>344417807
Believe it or not Tekken and I'd imagine their fighters that require similar inputs.
I honestly thought "The Claw" was dumb and unreasonable but I actually use it for grab inputs when I don't want to set a button. Jins Diagonal 2+3 was my first claw input I do believe.
I also play high level DMC3 and 4 and claws inputs are becoming increasingly more comfortable/necessary.
>>344417807
Oh shit I didn't realize other people did this
>>344422782
the underhand button grip is godlike for tekken, you need to be able to able to hit any combination of 1-4 buttons, using triggers is a crutch.
>>344423365
well i guess its overhand*, but i dont know if it has an actual name

>I also play high level DMC3 and 4 and claws inputs are becoming increasingly more comfortable/necessary.
Yeah, a lot of high level DMC4 Dante players use the claw:
