Should I be getting frame rate drops while playing this on ultra settings with a gtx 970?
I'm having the same problems with the same card, so I guess so
Just lower some stupid option like shadows or whatever and play

>should I be having problems while using the meme card
Just turn off ubersampling or something.
>>344304390
disable Ubersampling.
Problem solved!
>>344304390
Disable ubersampling, seriously.
I can't remember if the shadows options are stupid like they are in Witcher 3 but probably turn those to low as well, there's not much noticeable drop in quality.
>>344304390
play it on high or else you will get under 60 fps with an i5.
Make sure Ubersampling and Cinematic Depth of Field is off
These two kill framerate
>>344305947
>Depth of Field is off
mandatory for every game
>>344305496
There is a pretty huge difference but it's something you really need to stop and pay attention to, kind of things.
Some setups just have this issue.
>>344306339
witcher 3 lets you enable DoF in gameplay and cutscenes separately which is just gold.

i5 4690k and 480 here and I barely ever drop below 60FPS
granted my i5 runs at 4.8Ghz
slavic technosorcery son
good luck
1. Go to [Nvidia Control Panel]
2. Go to [Configure Sound, PhysX] under [3D Settings]
3. Choose CPU as processor under [PhysX settings]
4. ????
5. Congratulations you have no lag
If you want to play with hairworks on 8 you're going to have to change some user.settings values but you'll still get a little bit of spikes here and there.
0. Go to Documents/Witcher 3 and delete user.settings and user.settings bak
1. Get into game
2. Set your graphics to how you like
3. Go to documents Witcher 3 folder and open user.settings
4. Change these values:
CascadeShadowDistanceScale0=3
CascadeShadowDistanceScale1=3
CascadeShadowDistanceScale2=2.5
CascadeShadowDistanceScale3=2
TextureMemoryBudget=2048
TerrainReadAheadDistance=300
MaxTextureAnizotropy=0
5. Save, go to properties and tick Read Only
6. Go back to Nvidia Control Panel
7. Change the following:
Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
Texture Filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization [OFF]
Texture Filtering - Negative LOD bias [OFF]
Texture Filtering - Trilinear optimization [OFF]
Threaded Optimization [ON]
See if that works. Nvidia Hairworks is a cunt, but I keep it for the beard. Still waiting on a Hairworks Only on Geralt's Beard Mod.
>>344307984
wow, thanks Marcin!
>>344304390
Turn off Ubersampling.
>>344307984
Almost forgot: CascadeShadowmapSize=2048
>>344306514
Ah right.
I turned them to low in TW3 because running it with mods on my 980 gave me a couple drops here and there but really didn't see a difference. But I think TW2's engine handles shadows and AA better than TW3's
>>344304390
Witcher 1 and 2 have problems with savegames.
If there are too many saves in your game, it will lag like crazy. I had the same problem.
Just delete all your old saves that you don't need and the lag will probably dissappear.
>>344307984
Good tweaks but this thread is for TW2 not TW3 m8

grats
Disable ubersampling and hairworks. Should run perfect.
