The new Doom is actually a legit sequel, not a remake (why the fuck would you even think it was a remake, they usually look at least take similar level design to the game they're remaking).
There are artifacts pieces stating shit about things after Doom 64, effectively making D64 the real Doom 3.
Doom was as bad design wise as Duke. It was a far more competent game but it was a piece if shit in terms of being enjoyable to play.
