The problem is they often don't seem to give consumers fair warning. Too often they parrot press releases and catered demos from devs instead of being skeptical. Too often they play a game for a few hours instead of digging deep into it.
Look at their Evolve review. No criticism on the pricing model. While they're right, the game is pretty fun at first for the first few rounds against other noobs, it becomes repetitive and people learn how to cheese it up to a point the game is unbalanced.

The only people you can trust are hobbyist game reviewers anyways. Anyone making a moderate amount of income from reviews can never be entirely objective.
Is there another video game focus news site that also reports on news regarding movies, comics, and television shows? That's the reason why I use IGN, so that I don't have to use a bunch of different sites to keep track of all the news, but if there are alternatives I would use them in a heartbeat.
