They are introducing two modes: first (default one) changes the power spread between PCI-E and external power connector, second (optional) lowers card voltage and can indeed cause performance drop.

So it's overdrawing from the 6pin now, but unlike doing that from the mobo the psu is practically designed to handle that unless you're using a shitty budget psu.

And all while this is going on, ignoring the fact that it is indeed killing mobo's, did violate PCIE certification limits, did launch with a design flaw and even more so, was suppose to be a direct competitor to the 10xx series while not even being able to beat the 970, which was 3 launch's ago.
The fact that anyone is willing to trust this card and claim "the drivers will fix it" obviously is either so deep in their AMD fanboyism to ignore the signs or havnt had the experience of dealing with AMD drivers.
It is what it is. A cheap card. It wont beat the top card or even the mid range card. It will get you ok graphics for a while and then burn your motherboard and house down.
