Had this happen earlier. I just kept attacking, then eventually it said it fainted, but didn't give me the gym. Still had the same pokemon guarding it, but with a different trainer.

I caught a Venosaur but the first enemy of the local gym is strong against it while the second is weak but i have no option to put Venosaur at the end of my 6 pokemon team, or move any of them in any way besides changing how all of my pokemon are sorted which really does not help, i just wanna reorder how they come out since trying to change pokemon midbattle is a crap shoot the way the servers currently are.
