Okay /v/, you're going to help me out now. I haven't played a fighting game in almost 20 years but I kinda want to get into one now. I own a PS4 and PC so I can probably play alot of them. Are there any out there that are particularly beginner friendly and teach you the ropes or will I just have to smash my head against a wall until I git gud? Currently looking at Guilty Gear Revelator and Street Fighter V.
Play Melty Blood
play melee

But I want to play a fighting game.

Go with Guilty Gear, it has the objectively best tutorial for beginners and it's also the better game in general.
Don't the arcsys games like BlazeBlue and Persona Arena have really fantastic and indepth tutorials for every single mechanic?
Aren't anime fighters usually really hard when it comes to inputs and shit?

This. Revelator had the most fun tutorial segment I've ever seen in a fighting game. No hand-holding whatsoever. The only issue was that it didn't go over a lot of the defensive mechanics, but there's other tutorial stuff for that anyway. The mission segments go over everything else, though.
SF5 if you want an unplayable lagfest that wont be played next year.
GG if you want the best fighter out right now.

I guess I'll buy guilty gear then. Is there like a basic character that doesn't have any gimmicks? Something like Ryu in SF for example?

Guilty Gear's tutorial is good but it has a ton of advanced mechanics that are hard for beginners to deal with/understand what the fuck is going on, like eddy pressure and vortex

Try Sol and Ky

Every fighting game has advanced shit.
Doesn't stop anyone from gitting gud.
-1 Vote against GG.
Guilty Gear series is a good series, but a really awkward one for old schools to get into. Everyone walks at a crawl, horizontal jumps are only like half an inch in distances, there are bazillion mechanics to memorize. Just stick with stuff like SFV, KoF 14, Killer Instinct, and Mortal Kombat which are far easier to adapt from the SF2 days than GG.
Get that game with the vampire loli
GG is dead I wouldnt get that.

Isn't she low tier?
Revelator has fantastic tutorials but you're still gonna have a hard time learning the game. The game is great though so it's worth spending the time to learn it.
