Yeah, it kind of sucked, but at least it was memorable. There was metric ton of completely forgettable anime during the time it aired, which is probably why it wound up getting so much prominence and being shitposted to death.
It was fun to watch in the same way a shitty slasher movie is, and in that sense I kind of liked it at the time. Haven't watched it since it aired though, so it's probably aged like ass, but whatever.

What makes it incompatible is their blind hatred and distaste for each other throughout the series. Spike and vicious is at least suggested to be very bro (to the point of possible homo stuff) when they were younger, Mugen/Jin never get close at all really.
