Not really. You more or less act as a shield for everyone else to hide behind. Try not to charge randomly away from your team and trust that they'll take advantage of your defense. Sometimes you'll get burned, but you'll be worse of trying to solo charge an enemy team. The hardest part is learning to time you shield recharges, and when it's safe for you to fire off a firestrike.

Every hero is great if you know what you're doing. Maining in Overwatch is the biggest problem with the game. Dipshits main instead of picking a hero to benefit the team. Then, everyone just spreads out to do their own thing in persuit of a potg.
If the other team has a Genji, watch how your team mates handle him. You'll eventually get flanked and if your team can't protect your sides just switch to Winston or Roadhog.

I played Reinhardt dozens of hours and I think he is the only character in the entire game you can really main if you want to. He is invaluable on attack, especially on payload maps. Depending on the teammates and the maps he is a must have on defense. In the smaller, enclosed King of the Hill maps he could be less useful but still strong but menacing.
Actually the weaker the team the more useful he is, especially since not many people want to play him in public (he doesn't get much kills) so you are actually forced to go as him if you want to win on attack.

He seems simple (and with a good team holding the shield is enough) but has potential. His firestrike is better than it seems. His hammer is hits harder than it seems, especially with clever shield using. His charge could be a game changer, pinning one or more key characters, not to mention his shield stops almost every ult, at least long enough for your teammates disable the danger.
What I really like in him is the ability of pushing the payload to the next checkpoint alone. Even if my team is pretty weak, I could always almost manage to get them to the last checkpoint by carefully using my skills depending on the situation.

I was play Rein last night and there was a dude on my team with the thickest southern redneck accent I've ever heard. We lost a match in which a Genji shitter refused to play as a team and just fed ults like crazy. Over and over he would charge ahead and die. Winston, Roadhog, and DVa are better at crippling the enemy team by being a tanky nuisance. Winston and DVa get behind the enemy lines and fuck up snipers and supports. Roadhog hooks em from your front line.
Zarya plays more like an aggressive support until her energy is over 80% at which point, she can solo pretty much everyone on her own. Her ult is amazing for teamfights as well.

I never played MMOs... but I think he is the most useful Tank on average on attack maps. He is really a Tank in the MMO sense since you are soaking up damage for your team, while the other Tanks work differently.

A game as Reinhardt is one of the most tense and rewarding experiences this game has to offer, I think. Defending the second checkpoint in Gibraltar as him, standing in that small tunnel segment right on the first checkpoint, alternating between protecting your Mercy, laying down the law on any character stupid enough to try approaching, and charging enemy tanks while firestriking to pick off surviving squishies while constantly spamming "ARE YOU AFRAID TO FIGHT ME" feels amazing.
It's also very tense since as the first line of defense you are directly responsible for your team's survival and any screw up on your part in a tight game leaves them in a vulnerable situation.

Just keep your shield up and only ever drop it, either to regenerate or use E, if you can be certain some Widowmaker won't use that exact moment to snipe your healer.

I charged through a nest to break a turret and their back line while my team stormed the point in over time. Then on point charged Zarya off the point and 'Q'd' the remainder so my team could mop up the finale.
That's an average game.
KotH can be hard for Reinhardts, but if you have a decent healer and team, you're be useful when approaching the point, and you'll be useful for shielding the enemy team when they approach the main choke but once you take the point, you're a little out of your element. Practice, you'll see for yourself.

She isn't very good against teams that are coordinated, or people that know how to distance themselves and harass. There are some incredible Mei players, but outside of that, She doesn't have the stopping power that most characters do.
If the team funnels in one at a time, she's great, but on big pushes, she can maybe slowdown a tank, or kill a flanker before she gets ganged up on.

All of that is fair except the fact that literally nothing can stop you from being hooked once the game decides you are. I once got dragged all the way through the top-left room by a Roadhog on point. I was in the doorway on the otherside of the room, the hook moves through the wall, dragging me along the whole wall, pushes me back out to the door opening so I can get through, then pulls me to the Roadhog. How hard can it be to make it so that if the hook is clipping through a wall, it disconnects?
