Gonna be hard to win anything with that shit vram bus. Nvidia basically doesn't want it to do 1440p at all or ultra 1080p since that might cannibalize 1070 sales.

RX 480 consumes about 160W. 3Dmark scores put 1060 8-10% ahead. This puts 1060 ~55% ahead in perf/watt.

I have to imagine that the 1060 will be at least 10fps behind the 1070 so really we're likely to see the 1060 and 480 trading blows depending on what game you're playing and what API its using.

The 1070 is supposed to be in that price range, but of course extreme supply limits from the practically paper launch and the premium Nvidia is charging for the reference cards has driven the prices up.

>>344153646
Yes. The biggest difference is Nvidia cards rely more heavily on software (Which is why they shit out 2-6 new "game-ready" drivers every month) whereas AMD cards rely more on hardware.

Also, it's not true Nvidia gimp older generations, instead they just drop support in new drivers if a new series of cards is out. This means the older gen cards will not see any performance gains with newer drivers.

This doesn't happen to AMD cards. New drivers still give performance boosts to older AMD cards because of their hardware based architecture.

So if you want the best of the best and have too much money to spend and plan on upgrading again within 2 years, go NVIDIA.

If you don't want your card to stop gaining performance after 1-2 years and aren't gaming at 4K res, go with AMD.

You can buy RX 480 from any other EU country and have it shipped to ya.
German are known to have cheaper RX480.

Also, 4GB will most likely be widely available when Samsung actually start producing low density chip and partner boards will most likely have their own version with 4GB.
For god sake, its only been less than 10days since RX480 launched.

Instead of giving their card a shitty reference cooler, they give it an okay one, but jew an extra $50 (or $70/$100 in the case of 1070/1080 respectively) for it. Usually the reference card is the only one that sells for the MSRP at release, while aftermarket cards have a $10-30 premium over the MSRP, but in this case, you get the reference card for $50 above the MSRP, aftermarket cards for $10-30 above the MSRP and no cards for MSRP.

>>344155393
About 20W isn't usual for a 1080p monitor. So "way more" isn't really accurate.
