I actually did play RO quite a bit before, though it's also why I'm asking because I'm looking for an alternative.

FFXIV is really fucking comfy. Crafting has its own minigame gameplay and I enjoy being a traveling merchant to players who need high quality crafted gear or items. Nice way to make money in the game and I was able to use my earning to buy a small house in-game. Nothing beats crafting and decorating in your own house as you see the sun go up and down over it.

Wakfu and dofus both have that. In fact, a fuckton of MMOs do. Decorating your own shop is rarer, but running your own shop with your own items was pretty much a staple of any MMO before auction houses became so popular. Many let you also hire various NPCs to tend to your shop while you were offline and other such customizaton.

You buy a house in FFXIV and set up your retainers to sell items inside of it. But the best way to actually sell items is to advertise your stuff in party finder or make friends with high level players who need work done for raids or other ventures.

Wakfu is pointless because they made the new level cap so high that everyone can solo the endgame. Econ is fucked. The leveling up is fun, but endgame is nonexistent. Even the PVP/war/governor type stuff because they've amassed so much wealth/power over time they're untouchable.
