I will always be a soloq'er. I managed to climb from 54 to 62, but I feel I got lucky. No matter how good one person is, you can't carry in this game. What I suspect blizzard will do is that when they release new weapon skins, they'll add a new currency so that you can only get them buy playing and winning in that season. Gold weapons will still be available via the normal currency, but this way you won't be able to stockpile and buy all the new fancy stuff right away. Come the next season, the new fancy will be put in the same category as gold weapons and there will be a new set of weapons.
That or blizz won't bother with new skins and gold will just be the way it is for a while

This is a shortened season, it only takes an average of 5 wins a day at this point to earn one by the end of the season and that's not counting the bulk of them you get at the end of a season.
In a full length season it might average out to around 2-3 wins a day to get one.

Again, Zenyatta might need some buffs, but with a co-ordinated team he can shut down enemy pushes and defenses with well placed harmony and discord orbs, and his ult can save your whole team from enemy ults. I can't even tell you how many junkrat/reaper/zarya/reinhardt/torb ults I have saved my team from with Zenyatta's ult. Lucio just gives them some shields, but Zenyatta essentially makes them unkillable if they're near him

The way they've mapped ratings to the bell curve is odd, and is NOT direct. Yes, a 50 is the 50th percentile, but a 51 is not the top 49th percentile.
If you look on the bell curve there are two main zones that 95% of people fall into.
Based on percentile data from MasterOverwatch, 45 is -1 standard deviation and 55 is +1 standard deviation. 35 is -2 standard deviations, and 65 is +2 standard deviations.
In layman's terms, 68% of people fall within 45-55, 16% of players are above 55, and 16% of players are below 45.
At a skill rating of around 70-73 you're reaching top 1st percentile.
Oh, and this means that if you have a SR lower than 45 you are incredibly bad

You ALWAYS lose between half a level and a whole level.
But you ONLY gain between 1/6 and 1/2 of a level on win.
So unless you play perfectly at the forced 50% winrate that is Solo Queue, you will always lose rank, period.

I think SR can be calculated much more effectively than it currently is. Yes the objective of the game is to win the game rather than get the most kills etc. However, it's impossible to carry a team in Overwatch as it is inherently designed for teamwork.
Thus the system puts far too much emphasis on the result of the match rather than your individual performance. It should consider your performance relative to the performance of your teammates, if you play far better than your teammates, and this is consistently the case, then you clearly should not be ranked at the same level as them.
