Dawn of War 3 is going to make 80-85 on metacritic.
>>344017298
It's also going to get 3.0 on user score at best.
Commander, this is Steve Blum here, I am in position and you just read this in my voice, which is the same as my normal voice. Well done Initiate.

nah m8, the russians love 40kay.
>>344017956
I'm sure they do, but that's the exact problem. DoW3 has thrown fluff and lore out the window for shits and fucking giggles. So they're going to get angry over it. They got angry over the Russian portrayal in CoH2, they're gonna do the same over the disregarding of fluff.
>>344017581
It's best to pretend DoW3 doesn't exist, anon. It is, unfortunately, a symptom of the current gaming industry. It isn't there to please fans who made the series popular, it's there to appease the normies who have no clue of 40k. I could go into depth about this, but there is no point. It's already been confirmed by the devs themselves.

>It isn't there to please fans who made the series popular,
Because there is no pleasing them. Look at how many people argue about balance, call every iteration of the franchise shit, and claim that mods are the only way to play the game.
>>344018512
Why they got angry over CoH2?

What are you on about

What dank new memes will DoW 3 produce, I wonder?
>>344018658
Relic are just horrible at balance, and Elite Mod is pretty much the only way to play DoW2 multi, at least, since they stopped patching it back in like 2012 when THQ went tits up.
DoW3 just reeks of the MOBA-trend. It's bad enough that it's already leaking into shooters (even the new fucking Quake game is focusing on heroes and ebin abilities) and the base-building looks as tacked on as ever, as if they're just trying to appeal to as many fans in the franchise as possible while simultaneously trying to make it easy for newcomers.
>>344018512
I don't understand why people want a rehash of DoW1 when that game is still fresh and easy to acquire. There isn't much you can do to improve upon that formula.
DoW2 has it problems as a competitive game but mods and the last stand mode still make it worth owning.
I want to see DoW3 do something to stand as its own game.
>>344018997
It already produced some.

>>344019013
Personally the main issue with DoW 2 for me, in the campaign, was scale. 11 Marines, 3 scouts and a Dreadnought? And not even at the same time? Really?
I appreciated the improved narrative and graphics but I still felt it could have been bigger. Granted, Retribution improved this somewhat.
>>344018658
True enough. I don't think people would have had much of a problem with DoW3 if:
1. It followed the same 'fluff' as DoW1. In the sense that, Space Marines land on aircraft when you 'train' them, instead, in DoW3, they come out of underground base... Something that wouldn't happen in the fluff. Or Lascannons that 'do more damage the longer their beam stays on a target', which isn't how Lascannons work. Or 'Orbital Strikes which do more damage the more enemies it kills'.
2. The graphics were an improvement on DoW2. Not a cartoonised low textured, low detail crap which has been clearly done to either work on consoles, tablets, or both.
3. The cover system wasn't replaced by specific areas... That have HP and disappear after it's HP bar has been depleted. The reasoning is 'too confusing for the amount of units we have'.
4. The statement of 'most accessible DoW yet' is a red flag.
5. 'DOTA inspired hero selection for MP' is also a red flag.
Had they done DoW1, with DoW2's cover system, hero system (loot + skills) and a better graphic engine than DoW2, it'd be great. But they didn't. So now we get this game which has been specifically said to be an 'introduction to 40k', let's say this isn't what most people wanted.
Oh well.
>>344019558
Bluddflag > Gorgutz
that's a fact
>>344018658
That's true. But DoW III is retarded, they took the worst aspects of I
>massed blobs that require little tactics
>pretty pointless base building
and II
>retreating units instead of getting into awesome fights
made them even worse
>there is basebuilding but it's even more pointless and there are no turrets or mines
>units are either non-customizable and inefficient blobs with a rock-paper-scissors system or OP and expensive super heroes
then also removed the detailed squad animations/positions, thrown over a shit artstyle with overkill particle effects all over the screen, added basically weeb shit animations and disregarded lore for no reason.
It's a shit DoW game, but it will never surpass other RTS games. So idk what their target audience is.
So since Taldeer is dead, will Macha return in 3?
Or are they gonna introduce some new Farseer?
'ERE TA FIX YOUR GUBBINZ
I like some of the giant mechs that you can use, I don't like the giant smash ability whole legions of space marines can do
>>344018946
Yes it has. Watch the videos. Space Marines are trained from a building which is dug into the ground. Space Marines don't build bases, certainly not ones that go into the ground. They land by ships or drop pods. But that's now how the building shows them being 'trained'. Lascannons don't do more damage the longer they target a unit. MultiMeltas do. Not Laser Cannons. They fire a single 'packet' of light which punches through a tank. Not a constant beam that does more damage the long it's kept on a target. Orbital strikes don't do more damage the more things it kills.
>>344019558
Space Marines are elite strike forces, they aren't sending thousands into battle to drown people in bodies.
>>344019747
I think Macha is the leader of the Eldar in the campaign.
>>344019747
Pic related. I hope Relicdoesn't kill Macha again like they did Taldeer. Taldeer was my heresy-fu.
Even if Dow 3 turns out shit, which it hopefully won't, I have the DoW 1/2, their expansions, Gothic Armada, Space Marine and the upcoming Deathwing.
Not to sound defeatist or anything but at this point, I'd say 40k video games have had a good run. The only thing thats missing is a Rogue Trader/Dark Heresy-ish RPG game.
>>344019646
Nu uh.

Best units as DLC confirmed ;_;

WAAAAAAAGH!!!!
>>344019934
A dozen Marines and a Dreadnought holding off a Hive Fleet, Eldar forces and Orks at the same time isnt exactly lore friendly either.
Numbers have always been an issue but until DoW 2 the games never tried to pretend that they were a 100% realistic depiction of the battle. WA, DC and SS all mentioned, in cutscenes or After Action Reports, of how the battles were actually massive. But in one DoW 2 ending, Gabriel literally says "With only a handfull of Space Marines, you held back the unstoppable."
>>344020273
If they do, every race beyond the initial 3/4 will be 10$ DLC.

m8 some of you DoW2 fan are predictable with yer misdirection and fearmongering.
>The statement of 'most accessible DoW yet' is a red flag.
DoW1 and DoW2 are already accessible, especially DoW1 currently. Also read the PC gamer article of which you took that quote out of context correctly next time.
>DOTA inspired hero selection for MP' is also a red flag.
For a fan that claims to love DoW2 you sure as hell doesn't seem to remember that it literally has a similar system....
>retreating units instead of getting into awesome fights
Despite the awful gameplay trailer they have no t shown this anywhere.
>there is basebuilding but it's even more pointless and there are no turrets or mines
>units are either non-customizable and inefficient blobs with a rock-paper-scissors system or OP and expensive super heroes
Now you have completely gone into bullshit territory, we have literally never seen mines and turret yet and Relic have already confirmed that you can customize your armies both cosmetically and in-gameplay (Choosing elite units).
The only thing that I would criticize so far are the graphics and art direction. You're all right on that one, wtf are they smoking?
>>344021438
Nigger I prefer 1 over 2, at least skirmish wise. Both games were fun but had some bad elements.
>Despite the awful gameplay trailer they have no t shown this anywhere.
They talked about it, the super hero units will be expensive and that means it will always be more logical to retreat, rather than risking losing it. That's not fun for me
>Now you have completely gone into bullshit territory, we have literally never seen mines and turret yet and Relic have already confirmed that you can customize your armies both cosmetically and in-gameplay (Choosing elite units).
Some article confirmed that there will be no mines, listening posts and turrets. And there is no customization for the normal units. Instead of customizing your squads however you like, you only get lascanon squads, flamer squads, plasma gun squads, etc.
>and in-gameplay (Choosing elite units)
In skirmish? Everytime I've seen them discuss the hero units it was always stuff like Knights have double vulcan miniguns, Angelos has his Terminator armor and the hammer, etc. Can you explain what kind of customization they meant?
