Thehunter was a great game at launch. They gave away SO much shit for free. I have permanent licenses for pretty much all animals released before 2015, plus some pretty nice rifles and bows. The issue with thehunter is they tried to capitalize on the survival craze by making thehunter dinosaur or whatever, and then ark came out a few months later and just shut it the fuck down so they ran back to the original game.
As for the topic at hand, it reminds me of natural selection 2. The game released to pretty high acclaim both critically and from it's users. Minus issues with optimization which could be fixed.
Only they never fixed them, and instead exacerbated the issues with successive patches designed to do dumb meme shit like add more useless maps when no one could play the ones that existed, rebalancing the entire game every 3 or 4 months, and then stopping all development for a year and a half to work on a linux port that LITERALLY NO ONE EVER ASKED FOR.

Thing is that BB failed all on it's own, it's just a legitimately shit game, but Gearbox will be able to look at the OW release and blame that instead. They have been playing the "everything is great" game while at the same time not actually saying how much the game cost or how much the game has made.
All we have are estimates from third parties, so far people are estimated 40 to 65 mil to make and it has made 18 mil gross.
The fact they are not disputing these numbers or countering them with other numbers might point to it being worse. Honestly I am one of the retards who believed his friends and reviewers the game was good and I bought the collectors edition.
God I tried raising hell with steam, gearbox support and 2k to get my money back. All told me it was not their problem. All I can hope for know is the bad news from gearbox about its earnings or some other shit.

So here I have the first 3 months for all 3 Borderlands games and Battleborn. Now while BB didn't have the massive start like some of these games on PC and had a bigger drop on the first month, from month 2-3 it held its ground much better.
I've seen a lot of posts about how the numbers fell so much and I thought seeing that all of these games had similar drops might calm some nerves.
Not making any grand statements here, just saying these things happen on release.

This statement is not true. The Overwatch number of 10,000,0000 was activated copies on all systems. The less than 1000 is current players playing at a given moment.

The only decent thing to come out of gearbox was TT partnering with them to make a TT game based on one of their franchises.
