He's actually 100% correct. For the past half decade, the quality of a game or its viability as an "esport" has been entirely decided by whether or not the public accepts it, not whether or not the game is truly good or a proper test of player skill.
I mean, LoL is currently the #1 competitive game in the world right now. Overwatch is gaining on it. We have games like CS:GO, Dota 2, and Hearthstone trailing.
Does anyone here honestly think any of those five listed games are truly competitive? That they're the BEST competitive gaming, or even gaming in general, has to offer? Obviously not, but these games are popular and "hype" so they get the crown.

What games would you consider to be competitive? Unfortunately, a necessary component of competitive games is there needs to be competition.
Hearthstone and Overwatch are jokes competitively, and I don't really like mobas, but I do think CS is a pretty good competitive title.
