I really liked Gears 1's campaign. As much flack as the series gets for muh grimdark edge, I thought it was handled pretty well.
And then they fuck it all up in 2 and 3 by saying "hey remember that one time where we said that literally everyone was dead which is why we were raiding prisons for new recruits and all their gear was falling to pieces? Also the fight is so atmospheric. I love chasing him through the mist as he just rambles to himself getting more and more ridiculous as the fight goes on.
