It's not a matter of "make everything like Souls" it's a matter of using Souls as an example. Because whether you like Souls or hate it the point is that in those games there isn't a constant stream of cutscenes to slog through nor do their games hold your hand to the point where your hand turns blue. Because those games assume that the people who are playing them aren't retarded and that some things should be left for the player to discover on their own. Otherwise it may as well not be a game at all, just make a movie. This is the type of thing we used to see in games like Metroid and Fallout. Hell even fucking Super Mario World took its hands off the reins 5 levels in and let you do what you want and yet there were still secrets laying around that led to entirely different sections of the game as a reward for exploring around the gameworld.
