Yeah, it worked in Bl1, since I don't think the word was ever spoken outloud it was just what elite versions of common enemy types were called on first playthrough, on NG+ they were called "Bad Mutha" and once you beat NG+ and the whole game scaled to the level cap (why don't more RPG's do this?) they were called "Super-Bad".

For all of Orendi's lines, none of them give you as much insight into her character as Mercy and Reaper's two line interaction before a match.
IIRC it's basically, "What happened to you?" "You tell me, doc."
Whatever, that's not great writing but those two lines and their delivery say more about Reaper and Mercy than 90% of the ingame voice work in Battleborn, and Battleborn has a dedicated story mode.
It's simple and to the point, but those two lines make those characters more interesting than half the cast of Battleborn. I've unlocked all of Orendi's lore and there is nothing interesting about her. She is literally just "lol so randum, chaos magic."

I don't play Battleborn, I don't plan on playing Battleborn, and nothing about Battleborn seems appealing to me, except for one particular thing.
The idea of a story taking place in an universe where all stars are dead except one, and everything outside of that one star is complete, unending darkness is cool and spooky as all hell.
Gearbox has a way of churning out snippets of interesting writing every once in a while amidst their relentless mediocrity.
