To be fair a lot of the difficulty can be attributed to the rubber banding, which during certain levels was absolute bullshit. I don't like throwing the term artificial difficulty around so much, but in this case it was obvious as to how ridiculous it was when you see an opponents marker on the map just go full supersonic catching up to you.

Anyways, I remembered BR00TAL rubberbanding from teh GC version which I played religiously in the day, but this time I hardly noticed it at all. I usually won the races with 10+ seconds to the next guy, except for some of the boss races and that last one with the chick in the ugly 350Z.
Am I just a better driver than 15 year old me or is everyone remembering the rubberbanding as worse than it was? Or is it even completely different for the PC version?

Carbon had good ideas. The team mate mechanic was interesting. There was loads of customization for the car it self, the car type like muscle exotic etc was a nice intro as well and it had the best drifting to date.

That's why I haven't played it either, kek.That and I swore I'd never buy an EA product like 13 years ago.But I've read/heard/watched plenty of discussions and vids talking about how tuning cars to "grip" can make it handle worse (understeer more IIRC) and how it's almost impossible to avoid oversteer. Plenty of people describe the handling input to be weird af - like the game is basically in control of the car, and if you try give it any input, you'll usually get the opposite effect of what you want. But yeah, seeing the "epic drift brah" cam in those gameplay teaser vids they released irritated the fuck out of me. Supposedly you can disable that but I don't remember ever seeing any video where someone did have it turned off. Another reason I wouldn't buy it is because most of the cars don't actually offer much customization - the most popular cars have plenty of options of course but most have little to no choice as far as physical aesthetics are concerned. It's p fucking sad tbhfam - I was so excited. I almost bought into the hype.

I deliver pizzas and several of my coworkers have challenged me to a race while we were on the clock. Yes, we drive shitboxes but racing is racing. I've seen a handful of street races in the daytime, so yeah I think I'd understand it, bruh.

I never tried it - I wanted to but from what I've seen, I was just never motivated enough to download it. Though I did try NFS World just because it was free and had a huge open world and whatever - so much wasted fucking potential holy shit. RIP to that. I actually wanted to spend some money on it but it lacked a few things and needed some fixing up, but they never did anything with it - their loss.

I think U2 and HP2 are on the same tier, but it really is just subjective. I do concur that HP2 had fantastic level design though.
