Why was Silent Hill 3 the best in the series?
I liked SH4 the best overall
but I like Heather as a protag better

It was the spookiest, which should be the most important thing for a horror game.
SH1 = SH2 = SH3 > SH4 > ET the game = the western games
I swear graphically this game held up until this current generation. It's a shame we won't get a proper new silent hill with modern console graphics.

Story is lacking and has no mystery or ambiguity. You figure out the plot pretty fast.

Silent Hill games trade area size for detail. So LOADING between each room, but each room looks very nice.

it looks the best graphically, has some of the best music in the series, has the most likeable main character of the trilogy, and directly connects the 3rd game to previous lore in an interesting way.

ive played sh1,2 and 4 and they were paced nothing like this
i mean 4 had a similar nightmare>calm>nightmare pace but even the initial nightmare part was just the scary version of your room in first person even after that the youre left at your own pace to explore shit before you enter the hole in the bath

That's not the entire team, though. Just whatever members stuck together. They were constantly changing staff even after the first, hence why some people argue about whether they could be called a team.

Not quite. They had a limited pool of talent to draw from, and this was back when acting in games wasn't treated with nearly as much care and effort.
First game was straight up ham city, but it worked for the most part and the fact that it only occurred in cutscenes kept it from ruining the atmosphere for most players. Second game was a considerable step up, but still understandably lacking in quality, however may found the lack of professionalism in the acting added to the story and characters. SH3 was significantly better, though you can see where some lines just came off as either silly or cringy. SH4 is a bit harder to describe, but feels like a mix of everything the first 3 games did.
The only true Silent Hill games are the first and Forbidden Siren.
