I started subscribing in the early 90's, and even then, their over-hyped reviews towards Nintendo were shady as fuck.
Everytime a new console was released, they would praise the AAA games for it.

Gaming pre-2007 was still a relatively niche thing. Looking at it now it's weird because pretty much everything started going downhill after 2007, from the Internet to the economy to society/culture itself. 2008 onward is a depressing blur to me, it barely even feels real.

Yea, Excitetruck was the first game I played on the console. The Wii remote literally blew me the fuck away, it was incredible controlling the game. It was a legit title. I still need to get the sequel they released, which because of the name change I didn't know it was a Nintendo game, and figured it was a cheap third party game.

I used to check out EGM from the fucking library in the early 2000s because I didn't have enough money to buy them monthly and I really liked video games but didn't have my own console.
I used to buy a random game magazine at the store every time I went camping with my dad, I didn't even care what kind it was, I just wanted something that looked cool. I have some old 360 magazines, GameInformer, EGM, Playstation magazine, Nintendo Power, etc. Those really were the days, I miss when video games were fucking FUN to read about, not just some blogger normalfag whining online about how the game was too hard or ow there weren't enough black characters or some shit. These magazines used to have actual quality control instead of now where retards just shit out whatever they think will get clicks as quickly as possible. It's honestly kind of a shame, the death of print media really meant that the quality of articles went out the fucking window. I think the last Playstation Magazine I bought was in 2010, or whenever Crysis 2 came out. And it was still fucking enjoyable to read.

Man I was fucking pissed though when I got that Pokemon game, I was expecting it to either be like Colosseum, or Stadium and got neither. No adventure mode, and no ability to choose whatever Pokemon you wanted. Really was lame, though it does have amazing graphics, totally shits on current models and animations.

Yeah, I know. It's just managed to go so far off the rails in such a short amount of time, it really wasn't that long ago where I would still buy these magazines every once in a while and have fun reading them because they were essentially monthly updates on gaming in North America as a whole.
I admit it wouldn't really work today, but it's sad to think that there's a chance we might have continued to have people who like games writing about games and actually putting pride and effort into their work. I even liked some of the fucking ads.

That couldn't be more of a false for the PS3. It was such a nightmare for devs. Even with the FORCED game installs, games load SLOWER then the 360 counterparts. This was because the blu rays were fucking huge, and the disc laser couldn't read the massive discs fast enough so data had to be installed. This is still the case with modern consoles, only now they just install the whole game and say fuck reading game discs.

Resistance was a really cool Halo alternative for the system then, but it's aged very poorly, and even then Halo was a better game. Still the local co-op, tons of weapons, a FUCKING WEAPON WHEEL, and crazy weapons made the game really fun.

That's not really correct. Nearly all PS3 games were on standard 25gb discs, only a couple were ever on dual layered 50gb, MGS4 being one. I think even some were on smaller discs, but I'm not 100 percent on that.
And the Wii did have dual layered discs, running 7gbplsu, like Metroid Prime Trilogy, Xenoblade, and Smash.
