This. You only get to make the game you WANT to make if you're an indie developer. If you want to actually live off game development, you'll be making games which you have no interest in. You can't just stop and say "nah, not really in the mood to program/animate that", you have to continue or be fired. You are basically forced to hate your favourite hobby just so you can earn just enough to survive. Then, if the game is a huge success, that money goes towards expanding the team, possibly with people who are better at their job than you. So if the next game flops and they need to cut back on staff, you'll be leaving. Game development isn't the dream job you think it is, OP.
