It only sucks because the story is garbage, the gameplay and setpieces are choice. In retrospect I think most of the MGS games have terrible stories, the only one I think is decent is MGS3.
I've been wondering this for 8 years /v/ and I've never bother to ask:
What's the fucking deal with Ocelot's Liquid arm? Why's it metal at the end? Is it still really Liquid's arm or was he 100% pretending in 4?
And was he pretending in 2?
And if not why does he get liquid's voice in 2 but keep his own voice in 4?
It was good. Shouldve ended with snake blowing his brains out tho. The part when big boss shows up killed the ending a bit, but a happy ending isnt so bad

I don't know why people shit on MGS4 for fumbling on the gargantuan task of tying up all of the sagas' loose ends. Even bthen it didn't do a bad job, Kojima probably wanted to get it over with.
Looking back MGS4 made some baffling direction desisions taht if amended could have been 100% better.
I liked the whole dynamic of Snake and Otacon trying to bring up this little girl, that should have been a bigger part of the story.
Problem with the game is you can tell no one knew who should be the ultimate baddy. it couldn't have been Ocelot as he was always just the behind the scenes schemer that never had any emotional connection to Snake. It couldn't be Liquid because he's dead.
I actually wish Ocelot was Ocelot in 4.

He's the sorrow's son so has some of the sorrow's supernatural abilities because that suits genetic for some reason. Don't remember if MGSV reconned that with parasites but I guess parasites could be passed on too somehow? So he gets possessed because of his untrained paranormal abilities whenever he's around soild. That freaks him out so he gets the arm replaced with a metal one. But then he wants to do some something where he needs to be liquid so he uses psychotherapy and nano machines to give him liquids personality. And that's all I understand
