It had tons of potential, the creator just kind of took all the money and ran with it. In it's current state it takes forever to kill anything and there is next to nothing to do.
Hanggliding used to be strangely addicting if you got far enough into the game and IIRC there was even a group on /v/ that got together just to glide.

the artstyle which was once a draw for me—a kind of cutesy improvement on minecraft—is now played out to the point of looking bad, not just uninteresting.
I was following it but I'm glad I didn't put any money anywhere near it. Good to hear that he's still working on it but it's obvious at this point that it's not coming out in a finished state pretty much ever. I'm sure he may release an update in a year or so but I will be genuinely surprised if there is ever a 1.0 release that contains enough to make it look like an actual game as opposed to a student project.

It was the minecraft-like I was looking forward to. Mostly because it had nice water physics.
