Talk to [random number] of NPCs. A specific NPC placed in a non-noteworthy area unlocks a quest for another NPC, also located in a non-noteworthy area. The problem is, you talked to that NPC ages ago. So you would never assume he now has a mission. After beating the chapter, his quest is gone forever if you didn't complete it. Imagine that for like twelve chapters.

I wasn't impressed, and quit it pretty quickly. I'll probably give it another go at some point. I wasn't blown away by the gameplay or the characters, who were full anime cliches.

It starts off real slow. Story is meh until near the end. The last chapter is when the story gets good... then it leave you in a fucking cliffhanger....

its really about the high school experience or whatever. There are a LOT of characters, and you get to use them all pretty quickly.
Gameplay is nothing revolutionary. Visuals are solid.
The game is very good at world building as all the NPC's have new dialogs for every event that takes place as well as having their own little side stories over the course of the game. Unlike final fantasy where an average NPC in a town would say the same 2 things the entire game.
