Much of its content is busy work, costumes are- and the method of receiving them is stupid, the world feels largely not alive at all, the story is rather simple, it has numerous technical limitations and some bugs.

I've been playing it on a friend's 360. I have to say, it's aged phenomenally. The shooting/cover mechanics are a little wonky which is why I want them to give it another shot with the MP3/GTAV free-form combat. Overrated trash. It's just going to mission after mission. There is no real sandbox value like GTA 4. The missions are set up like any other third person cover shooter.

I actually enjoyed Red Dead Revolver more because it felt more like a real western movie and had lots of charm.

Marston is a shallow husk of a character. Basically a space marine sent back to the past. He's simply 2tough4u. And the majority of the plot characters he interacts with are just plain whacky. On the half hour horse riding simulation eroute to the "mission" (aka, shoot ppl), the extent of the writing is thus:

I grew up in a old mining ghost town in the west anyways, I am somewhat used to the environment I guess.
The random posses and random side missions were cool at first but got real fucking repetitive once you seen them all.
The Mexican missions were the best part about the game but all the missions before that were really boring. And then suddenly after the Mexican missions you find yourself coming to the end of the game real quick wondering how a game could feel that short.
The minecart mission was alright I guess but it's not that special. It's still in a sandbox engine, it never feels as climatic as it's supposed to be for the missions being so linear.
There really wasn't much of a story at all like there was in GTA. John Marston doesn't go through any character development like Niko does. It's just a simplistic story about getting revenge and then dying at the end for your son to avenge you (thus continuing the cycle oooh so deep). Why should I be immersed in such a shitty simplistic story?
