It's the final hours of the Steam sale.

Ask for advice and recommend games to others.

Also don't wait until the very last moment, because the server might overload and you won't be able to buy your games with discount anymore.
>>
>>343766427
Please recommend me a cheap multiplayer first person shooter with an active playerbase.
>>
>>343766427
I want a decent game I can play in short bursts, something like Isaac except without rougelike elements, I'm tired of those.

>>343766502

Yeah, ended up dropping Banner Saga and Shadow Warrior to bring it to just below 60.
Considering Odin Sphere Leifthrasir alone cost more than that, I can live with this. Fucking amazing game by the way, 10/10.
Shadow Warrior just doesn't seem like my kind of game and Banner Saga's artstyle and presentation does nothing for me.
If I end up wanting to play those, I can probably get keys for cheap off G2A or something, or I can just grab them if they go on sale again.
Overall, I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with this result.

Metro Reduxes on a nice sale too but some anons dislike them.

Also Faces of War/Men of War for a fucking PHYSIX RTS SIMULATION WITH DIRECT CONTROL.

I have around 5$ to spend left. I've been looking for something comfy I can play in my off time, maybe for 30min-1hour at a time. Don't Starve looks pretty interesting but I'm not really into survival games. It also has to run on Linux since that's where I do all my work.

I'm looking for something similar to some of these games: FTL, TBoI:Rebirth, XCOM, Shadowrun,Civ5,SotS:the pit.

Personal niche recommendations (1/3)

Runestone Keeper — great roguelite / minesweeper game. Looks simple at first, but there’s a surprisingly interesting and challenging gameplay in it. 80+ hours and counting for me. Can’t have enough.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/339400

Desktop Dungeons — coffee brake roguelike with puzzle elements and huge replayability.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/226620

Tales of Maj'Eyal — the best roguelike on the market. Simple graphics, but almost limitless potential for hours to spend in it. Has in-game chat with friendly community always willing to help.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/259680

Battle Brothers — medieval fantasy turn-based RPG / RTS with surprisingly deep gameplay, fantastic atmosphere, and promises of it being even better game after EA is over. The best turn based game I played in 10 years.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/365360

The Talos Principle — first person puzzle made by Serious Sam devs. Smart and interesting challenge, with profound story and beautiful world.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/257510

Antichamber — first-person puzzle that doesn't play like Portal 2 at all. It's a mind-bending game, that makes you throw away preconceptions and prior experience playing video games and think differently.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/219890

Lovely Planet — Super Meat Boy from first person perspective with colorful world and VERY challenging levels. A speed run game.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/298600

Snakebird — surprisingly hard but neat puzzle game. Easy buy for those who want both challenging and clever experience.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/357300

Teleglitch — Quake II-esque world with top-down perspective and one life per run.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/234390

The Fall — platformer / puzzle / adventure with good story and dialogs. Rather short.

I wonder if I should get Rocket League now or wait till it's cheaper in a few months. Same with Talos Principle.

No, you see, the game itself is fine. Kinda boring when you get used to the gimmick but fine. What's not fine is that it costs about 5 times as much as it should (considering the length), and it sold like hotcakes only because of a literal forced meme.

VA-11 HALL-A is great, but you should wait for it to actually go on sale.
Grim Dawn managed to keep my interest for quite a while, despite me generally disliking that type of game. (14 hours played)
Besiege is only fun if you're really into building things just for the sake of building them, pretty complex too.
Styx was painfully boring back when I tried it since it was free for PS+ users, but it might get better later on.
Dragon's Dogma is loads of fun, I highly recommend getting it.

FTL easily.

Games that I have bought this sale and recommend;

>Wolfenstein: The New Order/Old Blood
I rented it on PS4 at launch, but didn't like it because of how fast I would die. Turns out I just can't into console shooters. PC controls are great and playing it is super fun.
>Lili: Child of Geos
Super cheap game that is pretty short (5-6ish hours), but it looks fantastic and is pretty fun to play.
>Talos Principle + DLC
I didn't really pay that much attention to the story as the terminals are filled with pages and pages of words. The puzzles are fantastic though and always make me feel like a genius when I figure it out. Fuck record/platform puzzles.
>Subnautica
Early Access, but it is pretty big and super comfy. It reminds me of beta minecraft, where I could play it for hours on end just to have comfy fun building a base and gathering resources.

I also picked up Alien: Isolation, SOMA, System Shock, Shantae and Undertale, not sure which one to play next though.

Personal niche recommendations (2/3)

Infested Planet — take control of a squad responsible of purging huge amount of xenos in a top-down realtime strategy. Has this Aliens / WH40k vibe.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/204530

Jets'n'Guns — absolutely fantastic and rad SHMUP with ridiculous number of levels, enemies, jets and guns. Gorgeous soundtrack by cult power-metal group Machinae Supremacy.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/262260

Shadowgate — very well done remake of an old Macintosh adventure. Just the game to spend dull winter evenings in almost pen-n-paper atmosphere. Good experience for those who love the genre.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/294440

Silent Storm — RPG made by Russians, set in the WWII / post-WWII world, with ridiculously good and smart turn based system, and total destruction of almost anything you can find on levels. Rare game to have Axis story arc in it.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/254960

Pix The Cat — a VERY good variation on a classic ‘snake’ formula. Huge replayability, addictive soundtrack, and co-op designed for parties.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/330180/

Duck Game — imagine Smash bros. with ducks and huge variety of different weapons, destructible environment, and a dedicated QUACK button. Must have for parties.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/312530

Hammerwatch — probably the best Gauntlet inspired game that has ever came out.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/239070

Devil Daggers — addictive arena shooter with surprisingly great atmosphere and audio/visual design (if you’re into it). Geometry Wars from first person. Go and beat 500.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/422970/

Bunker Punks — high speed, no bullshit old-school FPS with graphics straight from the last century. If you liked the new Doom, you might like this one too.

Personal niche recommendations (3/3)

NeuroVoider — rougelike twinstick shooter with great visuals and fantastic dark synth soundtrack. Customize your robotic body for it to suit your playstyle the best. Local co-op for up to 4 players.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/400450/

Deadbolt — a gritty combination of Gunpoint and Hotline Miami by creator of Risk of Rain. Playing as the Reaper, hunt souls that refuse to cross the river to the afterlife.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/394970/

House of the Dying Sun — game heavily inspired by Tie Fighter with aesthetics of Homeworld. One of the few games that actually benefit from being played in VR. Soundtrack by the composer of E.Y.E.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/283160/

Space Beast Terror Fright — FPS / dungeon crawler set in sci-fi world that reminds of Warhammer 40k Space Hulk and Aliens. Has co-op for up to 4 players on the same screen. Epileptics beware.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/357330/

RUNNING WITH RIFLES — surprisingly deep tactical shooter, despite it having a top-down view and being pretty light hearted about itself and war in general.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/270150

Dungeon Rushers — unique tactical RPG with JRPG-esque combat. Build your army through the campaign to later raid other players’ dungeons while upgrading your own with better traps and monsters (think MGSV FOB invasions).
http://store.steampowered.com/app/429620/

Mini Metro — stylish strategy sim about making a subway map for evergrowing city. Minimalistic yet fantastic art style.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/287980/

Reflex — spiritual successor to Quake III, literally. Community is small and very hardcore. Unless you’re very good with arena shooters, — beware.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/328070/

The Swapper — visually stunning puzzle with ridiculously good atmosphere and plot that will probably leave you full of existential thoughts.

Reflex community is also extremely friendly(albeit smallish) in my experience as a noob. They are very nice and willing to give you advice, help you git gud instead of flaming you for being bad. I can definitely recommend the game, although check if there are servers near you with players. If you're from europe there there are enough servers here, mostly 1v1 but couple of TDM, race, DM servers as well.
