Professional localization of Japanese works only makes sense if you have a large enough audience. The margins are too low, especially since they're based in Los Angeles. They might be able to do it for a while but they will never be able to scale up and eventually the current employees will grow tired of doing the jobs of 3 people each.

Many works, like Baldr Sky in question, does not have any fan translations. And even for the ones that do, I believe they are niche BECAUSE all that exists are fan translations. If more good VNs were available officially from mainstream platforms, they have the potential to no longer be niche. The amount of potential buyers are pretty huge, there are loads of people who like anime and who like books and who like good storytelling, there's no reason for them not to like VNs if they just give it a try.

While VNs are certainly an interesting art form, combining rich dialogue-based storytelling with beautiful backgrounds, set into motion by music whose cues and atmosphere really bring the experience to life, I think it will never go beyond being a niche medium.
I don't buy the argument that it is because of the lack of official translations; in Japan translations are not necessary and it is still niche there.
The problem is that despite its genuine literary value, a number of elements is preventing the genre from being taken seriously: cute girls doing cute things, high-school antics, cringy sex scenes, etc. The thing it does best is actually young adult fantasy and science-fiction, which are considered niche even in actual literature, and whose audience is not really into the whole "reading" business.

Now you might have a point with Maitetsu, but a LOT of the story elements in it involve "risque" moments where people are naked in bathtubs or so on. I don't trust SP in the slightest, and I have every reason to believe they'll start chopping chunks of the story out because it happened in a bathroom or a bedroom.
At least in the case of Maitetsu, all the porn is a post-game reward, so you could easily just patch it back in like with Eiyuu Senki.

Sekai Project aren't even much better. Their in-house translators are fucking terrible and has a poor grasp on both Japanese and English.
Their only decent translations are from fantranslations that were already working on the titles before Sekai Project came into the picture, that Sekai Project bought after the fact. But said translations would still be better off with just about any other publisher, or even no publisher at all.
If you don't want Fuwanovel level localizations with the added benefit of also all ages and or censored, then you should not support Sekai Project.
