Is this game fun?
>>
if you have autism
>>
>>343744993
What degree of autism?
I liked Pharaoh.
>>
It's just Automation: The Game. IMO it's a lot of fun but you just have to like sitting there for hours and figuring out how to make things work.
>>
>>343744962
if you like stuff like spacechem, then factorio is for you
>>
>>343746535
Not really. I was afraid it would be like Spacechem. But I've looked up some gameplay videos, and it doesn't look like it.
Felt more like a mix of survival and city building, rather than a scientific puzzle game.

I think it's f-fun, but it can be overwhelming at times.

like my attempt this time, i got some serious issues keeping up production pace, and that triggers me.
>>

Oil always fucks my shit up
>>
It's pretty good if you're into building things and figuring stuff out. You'll probably restart a few times once you get the hang of things, in a never ending quest to be more efficient. And oil will fuck your shit up.

Oil is tuff until you get the advanced oil processing researched, until then you pretty much fucked.

same issue right here. not enough petroleum gas being produced and almost got lube tanks full, and light oil outpacing production of fuel blocks i dont really have any use for.

Yes, it is.

Dont let anyone tell you lies, the point of the game isn't automation. its the wholesale slaughter of the entire "alien" race on the planet. you must make it safe for colonization and exploitation on behalf of mankind.

it works tho m8

i've got a problem with iron deficiency tough...

and there isn't any in close proximitity besides behind the uncharted biter territories.

i'm running dry at this pace
>>

>it works tho m8
If it's your first time then sure.
Otherwise you should really think about running your factory more efficiently.

>i've got a problem with iron deficiency tough...
So you won't run into problems like this as easily because you waste resources and space.

factorio is like tough for me, but i undertand the basics.

i don't know what im doing wrong tough, I think i keep overscaling my means of production.

this isn't my first time, and i've done better before.

I scaled production like, maybe too massively.
>>
>>343747704
>it works tho m8
its a horrible excuse. you can "work" with just one lung, one kidney and no limbs. its no excuse to be that way when you can be better.

How long have you been playing that game? is this your first factory?

>i've got a problem with iron deficiency tough...
grab some weapons and hit up those biters. this game is essentially expand or die.

man you haters have OCD

i did this primarily to test the train functionality.

I can't find any decent guides to min-maxing shit.

until then, my setups are going to be very botched.

>>
>>343747898
Power is easy to expand. just build an efficient build once and blueprint it. if I remember correctly the ratio is 21:25. theres good blueprints of the Factorio forums if you're lazy to develop one on your own.

once you got a blueprint its basically copy-paste.

Production wise I advise centralized smelting and bus. its simple and efficient.

>>343748094
>I can't find any decent guides to min-maxing shit.
its simple math, not hard to do. if you still need theres tons in the wiki and forums and youtube.
>>
>>343747898
Did you play the campaign, that is essentially a tutorial?

>>343748094
>I can't find any decent guides to min-maxing shit.
>Game about thinking and optimizing the factory
>can't find guides to hold my hand
Y....YOU....you FAGGOT!
Use your brain! Look at your base, any part of it and ask yourself "How can I do it more efficiently, that saves space/time/resources/technology"

Think anon, THINK, the game is about THINKING not about poking until you get lucky or reading guides.
>>
>>343748278
i never touched the campaign

i figured out this shit on my own
>>
>>343748364
Go play it.
>>
>>343748472
I didnt play the campaign either, and as I recall it was useless (although admittedly I did start at Alpha 9, so perhaps things changed)

Its enough to just play and do the math yourself, consult the forums occasionally.

Tfw I literally made a spreadsheet to play this game
>>
>>343746718
There are no puzzles, just random environmental obstacles to your expansion. It's spacechem on unlimited field with no goal.
>>
>>343744962
You know in cartoons, those elaborate 'ball trips mouse trap that flings cheese into mouse trap, whose tail is tied to a pulley that lifts a trebuchet and launches a rock at a button' machines. Factorio is that: The Game, but with all of the fun of exploiting the environment in the most literal sense of the word.

Breddy fun game, worth pirating to test it out. Buy it for multiplayer which is also pretty fun.
>>
>>343749125
I wrote my own calculator for this game, get on my level.

Then I came to the forums and learned someone already wrote a similar program that's even better (Foreman)
>>
>>343744962
Its starts out like most survival games with you manually grinding away to get more powerful tools to grind away to get more powerful tools

Then you place down some belts and claws and suddenly the game is playing itself

Then you get a massive hardon, dont stop playing for 12 hours and have a cardiac arrest

Fun fact; this game was the highest rated on Steam for an age.
>>
>>343744962

Makes me start over and over and over till i lose interest.

As soon as some new tech/item is introduced, it means i have to redo all the manufacturing process from the raw materials onwards to be always at a continuous stream of resources otherwise my autism gets triggered and i cant live with myself and the inefficient monster i have created.

Devs aren't seeing my money until that happens
>>
>>343750953
They're savage beast, you'd have better chances of having peace talks with a lion than a biter.
>>
>>343751057
I'll take my chances in the name of science, dammit!
>>
>>343751101
science demands you squeeze those bugs for their purple goo. seriously, last tier of research is paid for with alien goo
>>
>>343747225
>six oil pump
>only one refinery

faggot
>>
>>343751201
But why, though? Why is alien goo so valuable, as opposed to, as mentioned before, lion goo?
I suspect those aliens of having superpsionic abilities, and I want that for meeself. I want to be able to tame some of the biters, make insta-traveling "worm" conveyor belts and use them against the hostile biters.
>>
>>343744993
I came here to LITERALLY post this
No joke it's the only correct answer
>>
>>343751357
Factorio is more OCD than Autism.

>>343751331
Because we have done all the lion goo research we can, that research three has been cleared aeons ago now we need to finish alien goo research tree.
>>
>>343747225
If you're not rushing advanced oil after blue science you're doing it wrong.
