I think the last 2 SK games have been reasonably progressive. SK2 is straight up the best game in the series all-around if you ask me, and while EV does have its annoyances (it's yet another 3v1 fight with Kafuru in the mix, time for no fun allowed), it generally improves on SV with stuff like hunting for shrines, tag aerial raves and wall running.

In the VD game? Not really. The most you get is a light kiss as the final "big finale", and they basically just get some subtle yuri drops on the same level as SK gets with Homu and Asuka (as in, basically nothing).
The only reason VD was even moderately good was because of TOKONOME and Mirei's interactions, and given that the VD game isn't about them, it mostly sucks.

It's not like a fighter or twitch action game where frames can make a difference; 30 or 60, it plays the same either way. Now don't get me wrong, if you have a PS4 and want to play EV there then by all means I guess.
