Fun fact, the reason Japanese is a common motif in cyberpunk is because in the 80s Japan's economy was booming and people were scared they were going to take over the world even though they're a democratic republic
In early versions of Blade Runner, for example, all the signs are in Japanese. Some later versions changed it to Chinese
