It will forever be impossible for a FPS game to be the most competitive. By sheer numbers there are far less factors at play than any other genre of MOBA/RTS/ARTS/ASSFAGGOTS.
It's just fact. FPS is fine, but if you really look at it there are a lot more randoms at high rank in FPS games, including CS, compared to how many there are high ranked of other genres.

I finally just got into competitive having played CS since 1.6. Enjoying it so far but I've already had some shitty experiences with players only lost 1 out of my first 7 placement matches
Match I lost had a hacker. Went back and checked the demo and he had Bunny hop scripts and walls, probably had an aimbot but it was so hard to tell the aiming was pretty choppy in the demo. Just won a game with two griefers on my team was on Dust 2. They spent half the match AFK and did stupid shit like block double doors, throw the bomb into the middle of long A and stare at walls. Only weapon they ever used was a deagle. Couldn't kick either of them because they queued together.
Shitty players aside whats irritated me the most so far is fucking rank re-calibration cooldowns

Fair enough, I can take some suspension of disbelief with the gameplay elements, but it was initially marketed as a tactically inspired game. The fucking Glock doesn't even have a magazine release modelled. Only one skin for it does, the brown one with the engraved ghosts has it painted on. Pretty sure it's a community skin too.

those cooldowns are because of cheaters, valve didn't want to cheaters to go to instant global so after you won 2 match in day you will have 24h cooldown. You need to win 10 matches to get rid of it.
